Cornell Powell is the Most Talented WR to ever sign with WRU...
May 10, 2016, 12:14 AM
|
|
Michael Irvin 2.0
I bet he scores 8+ TD's & I bet his ypc is insane.
If you're excited about Overton, then get ready, Powell is on a whole other level. Not even close.
He's not as polished at his position as DW4 coming out of HS, but he's the same type of talent, & with Jeff Scott coaching him the sky is truly the limit.
Feel free to respond if you disagree so I can write your name down &....
Get your ####### popcorn ready.

Hope you are right, but that is mighty high expectations. Especially for a receiver that is rated lower than many WR's on our current roster.
I think he will be great, but to say he will be the best ever is a bit of a stretch at this point.

He is certainly physically ready to contribute.
It's always hard to believe there is going to be a freshmen to make a huge impact, but it happens every year. Don't understand why clemson fans find it hard to believe, once upon a time there was Sammy Watkins...
Receiver is certainly the position to do it. Here's to hoping you are right

Unfair to compare any WR to Sammy...
May 10, 2016, 1:12 AM
|

Been following this for 30 years since recruiting was on print. Sammy might end up being as good as or better than Irvine but we don't even know that yet.
These claims, though I hope are true more than anyone, are simply a hope at this point.
Having said all that, I hope to God you're right.

IMO Nuk will go down as the greatest ever in regards to whole career. He is scary good.
But you are right, it's almost wrong to try to put those expectations on someone.
Remember last year when Philpot was saying on his show that Cain would have that kind of year? He had a stretch of a Sammy season, but it's hard to do what that kid did.

Nuk developed into a great WR...
Sammy just had it from day one. What makes these players so special is how coachable they are and how open they are to advice and lessons to fine tune their game.
One thing I noticed about Nuk's development over the years has been his route running abilities. He's mastered that skill now.

Here's an interview with Powell on why he came to Clemson. I expect the same from him when he comes to Clemson...

It's not unfair to compare him to Sammy. Sammy was more polished, coming out of HS, but he was not as physically gifted as Powell & I saw Nuk play football & basketball in HS....NOT even close at the same point. & Powell is hands down more physically gifted than ANY WR on our roster.
Also, Nuk is not that physically gifted imo compared to a lot of guys in the NFL. But he's smarter, more determined, and figured out how to translate his A++ hands, and basketball skills to the football field to the point that he's able to beat db's in a somewhat unorthodox manner. Nuk had to watch Sammy as a freshman be an All-American & that helped drive him to be the player he is.
& I don't care about the rankings. Just go watch for yourself, CP is more talented than any WR in this class & more talented than any WR I've seen not named Calvin Johnson & Randy Moss. More physically gifted than Julio, AJ Green, Nuk, or Sammy. And Jeff Scott is his coach, so there is a GREAT chance he will reach his potential.
What he does to db's reminds me of Michael Irvin & if you don't believe me, watch him the first time a db tries to play press man. It ain't happening. Also, listen to the practice reports once he gets on campus. It will be all about CP.
As Bruno Mars would say, "Don't believe me just watch", and get your ####### popcorn ready.
And I see we have a couple people with nothing to say chiming in as usual. no problem. I invite all the lame brains to disagree with me. I'm writing them down, and we can revisit this later, because CP is going to tear it up.
We have some pretty good db's, but they cant cover this kid.
He going to need to learn how to try hard all the time, because he just looks bored in HS. But just watch him when he steps on the field for the 1st time in a college game and DW4 looks his way. Big things will happen.
Once he gets on campus just watch, we will all get to see for ourselves.
Go Tigers!

College DB's are also in another league compared to hs db's. I have seen Powell play and think he is a very good player but time will tell if he his the best to ever put on a tiger uniform. I have felt like all along he would possibly redshirt next year but he turns out this good someone is going to the pine in a hurry.

And this, folks, is why drugs are bad for you.
Not sure if this is a coot trying to be funny or a cousin of Powell. Powell is a solid WR and very good kick returner. He has a LONG way to go to the best ever to come to Clemson.

Man I almost missed fencebuster. L??L I remember him from the rivals board. Not sure who is more legendary him or 117?
Btw, he was always emotional clueless, so I feel even better now.
Does anyone know when Powell is reporting to Clemson?
Cornell Powell is just solid eh?
Can wait till the articles start coming out about Powell in practice. He's gonna put on a show from day 1. Big plays all day.
Fencebuster lol

Strawman.
Nobody said Sammy wasn't physical, he's just not as physical as Powell...
& it's not close. Powell is stronger than Sammy right now. Much less when Sammy was a freshman.
I've got you on the list armsb. ??
Anyone know when Powell is supposed to get to Clemson?
Man Crush, lol.
You're over here defending Sammy with a Strawman argument...
Sounds like you have a little too much love for the dreads bro.
& Cornell Powell would snap Butler & Tuttle like they were twigs.
Who else wants to get added to the list?

There's my guy.
117 what up playa?
I was getting tired having to listen all these mere mortals with their small brains.
I was wondering when the king of the lame-o brigade would show up.
Why the screen name change?
Anyway...
DW4 = Joe Montana 2.0
Just like me and Sam Wyche said
Clemson is gonna be DE just like I posted, & just like the article posted on T-net.
Mac Alexander is gonna get PAID like Josh Norman in a few years.
&
Cornell Powell = most talented WRU ever to sign at WRU
It's hard being this smart, but hey, someone has to inform the peasants of how things are.
Preciate you chiming in.
You keep doin your thing bro. L??L
And y'all be sure to check back once Cornell Powell gets to Clemson and he starts doin his thing.
Gonna ?????? real quick.

Wait- He went to Miami? I thought he signed his LOI!?
JK
So- 8 TD's is 60% of what Sammy did... and Nuk is probably better than Sammy (as of now).
When you say "not as polished", I think they dont want it bad like the others do. Being polished is a result of self discipline, drive, and dedication. Its not just being around a good coach or two.

While I still think Powell is better, I wouldn't argue much on ole Roscoe. What a talent. He just couldn't get on the right track. Jeff Scott would have made him a stud.

He will also leave after 3 years with more touchdowns.

Cornell Powell is the most talented player I've ever watched play in the Shrine Bowl. Man amongst boys.

Cornell Powell is gonna go OVER the TOP of Defenses as our BIG PLAY WR.
Might even return the opening kickoff vs Auburn for a TD.

Not to be argumentative, but...

Michael Irvin? 47? 88? Playmaker? That comparison is a bit high, unless you may forget how good he was. Not a model citizen maybe, but a beast and absolute GREAT WR in the NFL. That said, I find it unlikely we see anyone near that type of production for the foreseeable future. Not to say we can't get that type of athlete. Not at all. It's more a product of how much experienced depth+talent we already have on the board. As good as any of these guys is, who do you sit in their place right now. MW? No. Cain not relieve Mike? Doubtful. Tay? HR? Leggett? These freshmen can and likely WILL contribute greatly, but back when Sammy came, outside of Nuk, we had very little receiving talent imo, and with SW skills he made a huge impact. I don't see any freshman doing that this year for sure.

I remember Michael Irvin well. Powell does the same thing to db's that Irvin did. Just abuses them. Go check him out compared to the top wrs in his class & vs the top db's in his class at the opening in Charlotte. He's a man amongst boys just like Playmaker was.
I think Powell is gonna be our big play guy like Cain was last year, just better Imo. There's no pressure to start him, but he's going to destroy a tired secondary that has had to cover our other receivers in our tempo offense.
One thing to keep in mind...
Deon Cain was a HS quarterback and came in and was murder on some of the best teams we played. Imo, Powell is better, and will have even more of an impact. Plus he's gonna light it up in the return game.
& given Jeff Scott's track record of producing NFL talent, there is no reason to think he won't kill it there too.
Btw, thank you for your service.

Entitled to your opinion.
Best in class, no Sammy...hmmmm. ok
Sammy is nasty, and I'm not anticipating him having the same frosh season as Sammy, but imo he's more gifted than Sammy.
