Charlie Weis - Kensas

Mike London - Virginia

Bret Bielema - Arkansas

Darrell Hazell - Purdue

but UVA fans are ready to fire both London and the UVA AD.

they would have to fork out 11 million

Nov 11, 2013, 2:38 PM

to buy out all of the coaches. That makes TB's buyout seems like change.

Mack Brown

Nov 11, 2013, 2:28 PM

After 5 straight wins and being 6-0 to start his Big 12 season I am not sure why people are still including him. Seems to me that he has answered questions from the beginning of the season.

I also think Arkansas knew Bielema had a long way to go with that program. He will get a few years.

Bilema and Hazell

Nov 11, 2013, 2:40 PM

are first year coaches, they should be ok for now.

Wilson is actually doing a decent job at Indiana. They have an explosive offense and are getting near bowl eligibility.

Bret Bielema isn't going anywhere for a while.

Nov 11, 2013, 2:42 PM

He's in his first year at Arkansas and they knew they'd have a down year this year. More than anything though, if Bielema is fired anytime between now and the end of the 2015 season Arkansas will owe him $12.8 million. It decreases every year after that by $3.2 million until the end of the contract in 2018.

Re: Coaches hot seat....

Nov 11, 2013, 2:48 PM

I will scratch the following coaches from hot seat:
Mack brown (he might get one more year as he came back with win over ok)
will muschamp (will get one more year. esp after going to a bcs bowl game last year)
mike london (will get one more year esp after a strong recruiting class)
bret bielema(its just his 1st year)
darrell hazell (just 1st year)
kevin wilson (no way they will go bowling after a long time)
kirk ferentz (will get year or two)
tim beckham (will get one more year)
dana holgerson(will get one more year. too early to panic)

new coaches should atleast get 3 years to prove themselves.

Disagree with Ferentz and Beckman getting another year

Nov 11, 2013, 3:17 PM

Illinois looks like they will go at best 1-15 in the Big 10 in Beckman's first year. So far Beckman's just 5-16 overall and 0-13 in conference play. They also don't have a single 4-star or 5-star player committed yet for the 2014 class.

Ferentz and the Iowa program has also stalled. I don't think Ferentz gets another year unless Iowa wins their final 2 games against Michigan and Nebraska. 4 straight years without a winning record and a recruiting class currently ranked #50 means Ferentz will be fired.

Indiana won't make a bowl game this year under Kevin Wilson unless Indiana can 2 win out of their last 3 games. They will probably beat Purdue, but they have almost no chance of winning at Wisconsin or at Ohio State. I think Wilson keeps his job though because they at least have a very explosive offense this year (10th in scoring offense with 43.1 ppg). They are starting to gain an identity, and you can see improvement. I think Indiana will probably just get a new DC because their defense is easily one of the worst in college football.

Muschamp and Holgersen are probably gone, while Mack Brown, London, Bielema, and Hazell will probably all get at least one more year.

If Baylor absolutely crushes Texas though, then Brown will probably be gone as well. Texas fans won't accept being #3 in their own state, especially not to A&M and Baylor.

Should read "in Beckman's first 2 years"

and

for Iowa: "4 straight years without a winning record in conference play"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Muschamp is safe for at least another year mostly because

Nov 11, 2013, 2:49 PM

he has done such a good job recruiting and he has only been in his job for 2 years, or so. Since injuries are a big part of the team's amazing descent to the bottom, he gets at least one more year to prove he can right the ship with new talent if not with healed talent to boot.

Chip Kelly to Florida?

Nov 11, 2013, 2:56 PM

Offensive minded coaches is the way to win at Florida. Their defense will always be decent because their athletes are so good. Chip Kelly has to wait at least 2 years before he can leave Philly to go back to college.

Nov 11, 2013, 3:31 PM

Personally I wouldnt mind they extend him right now through 2081.
