Clowney official was 4.53. 6th best dlineman ever

Feb 24, 2014, 3:02 PM

A little surprised by this.

Anyone know the other 5 Dlineman faster? I think Dwight Freeney was one.

When official times were released three hours later, the NFL recognized Clowney as the fastest defensive lineman at the event with a time of 4.53 seconds.

Manny Lawson, Isaac Hilton and Marcus Howard have the only "official" 40 times under 4.5 at the scouting combine.

Marcus Howard was a beast... I went to high school w him at Hanahan. He put 30 lbs of muscle on while at UGA and maintained his 4.4 speed while doing so...

If the name Howard sounds familiar, his brother JJ, played TE at Clemson from 98-02 I believe it was.

I don't know if any Tigers has heard this one but its really laughable. I was getting my garden ready yesterday, and had the radio on in my truck. I heard coots talking on coot radio about the combine 40 yard dash. And those idiots were talking of how Ellington and other coot players out done Sammy's time in the 40. Believe or not but, they were using the coots unofficial times and comparing them to Sammy's and Bryant's official times and bragging about how their guys (using unofficial) times beat our guys. And never once did they ever mention Sammy's or Bryants unofficial times beat their guys unofficial times. With the host on that radio program, they will stop at nothing that makes the coots look as if they have out done Clemson in what ever it is. You know that they are truly a bunch of low life garbage when they use lies to make it appear they have beat Clemson in something where they have absolutely twisted the facts to do so. I really can't wait to see how they twist the true facts when we roll them in their coop in November. There are no shots to cheap and low life for them to use to fuel their dream egos.

guys something to talk about and hold an audience. They are meaningless based on some guys hand held stopwatch-- to see how ridiculous hand held times are-- see how many times you can tap your finger within a second?-- how many can you do in a tenth?-- now they be using electronic means as well but they don't have the position/angle to do that correctly-

official is the only apples to apples comparison
