Clemson's POSTSEASON schedule

Apr 25, 2019, 9:10 AM

In fielding the question about ease of schedule, Dabo pointed to our success in the postseason.

Here are the postseason stats (bowls & playoff games, not conference championship games) of the greatest coach of all time and little ole Dabo Swinney over the last seven full seasons (2012-2018).

Nick Saban

Postseason record: 7-4 (.636 winning percentage) [Note: Bama was Vegas favorite in all 11 games]

Postseason record vs. coaches with national championship on résumé entering the game: 1-3 (.250 winning percentage)
0-1 vs. Stoops
0-1 vs. Meyer
1-1 vs. Swinney

National Championships: 3 (2012 vs. Notre Dame, 2015 vs. Clemson, 2017* vs. Georgia)
[Note: 2017 championship team failed to win its own conference division]

Dabo Swinney

Postseason record: 8-2 (.800 winning percentage) [Note: Clemson was Vegas underdog in 9 of those 10 games]

Postseason record vs. coaches with national championship on résumé entering the game: 7-2 (.778 winning percentage)
1-0 vs. Miles
2-0 vs. Stoops
2-0 vs. Meyer
2-2 vs. Saban

National Championships: 2 (2016 & 2018, both vs. Alabama)

Not bad, coach. Not bad at all.

Just so you understand how hard it is to play in the sec, I heard one of finebums cohorts say yesterday that, " some sec players don't do well in the pro's because they got worn down from playing in the tough sec." So please don't try to build up Dabo's success in the post season because we don't ever play anyone. Oh wait, nevermind.

Excellent post! But, I think it's even better than you have laid out...

Postseason record vs. coaches with national championship on résumé entering the game: 0-4 (0 winning percentage)
0-1 vs. Stoops
0-1 vs. Meyer
0-2 vs. Swinney

National Championships: 3 (2012 vs. Notre Dame, 2015 vs. Clemson, 2017* vs. Georgia)
[Note: 2017 championship team failed to win its own conference division]

True, I was thinking NC games and 2015 where entering the game Dabo had not won it yet.

Why not just make it vs coaches with a championship

Apr 25, 2019, 10:22 AM

Confusing for Saban to be 1-1 vs Dabo, but Dabo 2-2 vs Saban

CLEMSON'S POST SEASON SCHEDULE IS THE EASIEST IN THE COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT HAD TO PLAY THE NATIONAL CHAMPION IN TWO OF THE LAST FOUR YEARS!!!! THEY HAVE ONLY PLAYED TEAMS WITH AN AVERAGE POINT TOTAL OF 12.5 POINTS FOR BOTH OF THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP RUNS! WORSE, OBVIOUSLY THEY HAVE NOT FACED AN ELITE DEFENSE SINCE CLEMSON AVERAGED 35 POINTS COMBINED AVERAGE IN THE 16 AND 18 PLAYOFF!!!!

Sorry for the caps and sarcasm :)
