"Clemson of the SEC"??? What does that mean?

I first read this comment to be another way of "Clemsoning". But since UGA lost, and the writer says that damages their claim to being the "Clemson of the SEC," does that mean the statement is a positive? Does it mean an up and coming team? Not clear.

The author has a great web name - The Hater.

He writes most everything tongue in cheek and writes like his moniker - hatin'.

I think it's a slam on the old Clemson, and that they are always hyped and fall on their faces. Not really a relevant reference today.

But he said UGA damaged their claim to become the Clemson of the SEC because they LOST. Maybe he meant that they IMPROVED their claim to become the Clemson of the SEC....?

They've historically considered us an SEC caliber team

many were upset we were not on their top list in the expansion. They have said before that we (CU) matched up in fanbase, atmosphere, tradition and competition. I've heard that even before both conf. expansions.
