Clemson has played the most SEC teams during the 7yr streak

Since the SEC began its national championship winning streak in 2006, Clemson has played 17 SEC teams (I think that is the most by a non-SEC team). Our record is 7-10 over that period.

Here is an interesting thing to think about. USuC has won 5 straight, but during that span Clemson has beaten a team in each of the last 3 seasons that has defeated USuC. If Clemson plays Bama in the Orange Bowl and wins (though I wouldn't expect it) then we would have victories over Auburn, LSU, UGA and Bama - all of which are the top powers of the SEC. That is just crazy to think about and would make the streak even more unfathomable.

South Carolina played UGA- at UGA this year - and lost.
South Carolina played LSU last year at LSU - and lost.

and South Carolina played FSU several years back on a neutral field and lost.

I do mostly agree with you - and Clemson has no reason to be have to explain their schedule to anyone because they have been willing to schedule Auburn and UGA.

I would say though that's it's often difficult to beat some of these power teams on their home field.


I also think it's slightly helpful to Clemson to face an LSU after getting 3-4 weeks to prepare for them - and it was helpful to Clemson to get all off season to prepare for UGA - instead of having 1 week to prepare for them. Now the reverse is also true- LSU got 3-4 weeks to prepare for Clemson, and UGA got the off-season to prepare for Clemson.

I think getting that time off helps even things out a bit more than getting 1 week to prepare. But both teams are in that position.
