Clemson flag rescue

Sep 17, 2012, 7:33 PM

As I left work today, I noticed a Clemson flag like the ones that hang on the window laying on the side of the road. What self-respecting Clemson fan could leave that laying on the side of the road? So I turn around and pick it up. Not that it has any real value, but I couldn't imagine leaving it there for some dirt ###### to run over. A nice story so far, but on the way home (I live in a small town) I notice a SUV at a mortgage business with one window flag on one side and an empty flag post on the other. So I turn around, go into the business and tell they lady that she may think I'm crazy, but I think I have her flag. She is very happy since someone told her that it was missing earlier that day. The flag was rescued and returned to its owner. I will sleep well tonight!

Few things. I had my hands full and I dropped something. Since I'm huge, it's hard to bend over to pick it up. All of a sudden I see a man in an orange clemson shirt and hat running towards me to help. Of course I thanked him and we talked about the game for a bit before going our separate ways. Five minutes later, and after a few more drops, he came running with a buggy and said that I might need that. I wish there were more generous and kind people in the world like you and this fellow. If the world were filled with more Clemson fans, it would be a better place!

Thank you and good luck with the baby. If it is your first, your life will be greatly enhanced. If not your first, it's still cool.

Yeah, 'cause second kids are OK and everything, but not near as good as first kids.

I'm sorry if you read it that way. I am the 3rd of five and feel just as special as the rest. My Mother made sure of that. What I meant was that the first child is the game changer. Apologizes to all of the not 1st children.

I'm not a Clemson fan. I AM a decent human being.

Hard to think that there are people in the world that wouldn't do the right thing if it would inconvenience them just a little. While not all Clemson fans are decent human beings, and not all decent human beings are Clemson fans, rest assured that there are a few of us out there that would have helped you no matter who you are, and no matter the color of their shirt, they'd take it off their back if you needed it. Good story here. We need more decent people in the world.

That brightened my day, really, because....

Sep 17, 2012, 7:57 PM

back when I was in college, my parents were on their way to Clemson for a game when my Dad rolled down the window to see what the temperature felt like outside and lost one of his flags (before cars could tell you the outside temperature). They pulled over to turn around to go back and get it and the car behind them was stopping to pick it up for them. Well, the people in the car behind them (with tiger stuff all over the car) picked up the flag all right and kept on trucking up the road with it, seriously. So I'm glad to know after all this time that at least someone got their flag back.

this happened to me once after a game near Pres Barker's

Sep 17, 2012, 10:35 PM

house. Someone picked up my flag before I had a chance to go back and get it - and I followed them all the way down 93 and down Tiger Blvd flashing my lights and finally after we passed Wendy's they FINALLY got the hint that I wanted my flag back!

Don't steal my Clemson flag, people!!! Geessh!!
