Clemson and Calhoun

How do you balance events from 200-400 years ago with today's environments, beliefs, cultures and laws? The things we believe and the knowledge we have today is so different now than then. What people have been taught to believe is very different today than 50 years ago and in another 50 they will be more different than today. The USA and South Carolina have evolved and changed over time. Both will continue to ebolve and change. The right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness should nver change. Through the actions and deeds of Calhoun and Clemson, an institution was established that benefits students of different genders (remember it used to be all male), races and religions.

Should a building be named after Tillman? Tillman (educated at USC) just happened to be the Governor when Clemson was being established. It may have been the only good thing that he ever did in his life.
