Clemson Student Charged with weapon in vehicle on campus

Mar 14, 2013, 5:20 PM

The State Law Enforcement Division charged an Anderson man upon discovery of a weapon in his parked car on Clemson University's campus.

Brandon Tyler Lowe, 19, was charged with one count of carrying or displaying firearms in public buildings or adjacent areas, a felony. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.

Lowe, who was a Clemson University Police Department Communications Specialist II, no longer works at the university. SLED investigated the case at the request of the university's police department.

Where does this madness end? Because giving this poor kid a felony helps solve ANYTHING? Feel bad for him, doing nothing wrong and gets a felony charge, because people apparently seem to think a gun free campus is safer.

I'm no fan of the law

But he did break it. As a gun owner you have to know where you can and can't legally carry your weapon.

You place the burden in the wrong place.

Mar 14, 2013, 5:49 PM

As a gun owner, the law should not be so onerous as to cause me to have to learn all the many places I cannot drive my car if I have my gun with me.

It's all part of a incremental plan to take your rights away***

If this is the same Brandon Lowe

I know, which from the description in the email I got seems to be him, then he actually worked with the Anderson Police Dept. all the time, im not sure if he was ever actually on payroll or not but he seemed like all he ever wanted to do was become a police officer in the classes I had with him in high school

Poor judgement on his part. Stupidity on the local and state part.

Humm, hope this kid was not set up due to a failed relationship, or an unfriendly friend. I know nothing 'bout the situation, but when in college I always had a weapon in my car(trunk). Of course laws were different many years ago.

Probably should not post, but I'm a old fart who believes if responsible students were allowed to have weapons a campus would be much safer.

Not olny did most of us have guns in our cars,

Mar 14, 2013, 8:02 PM

gun free zones

Mar 14, 2013, 6:28 PM

Impede upon our second ammendment rights by preventing us from carrying our legally armed firearms too and from the gun free zones.

Re: gun free zones

Mar 14, 2013, 7:31 PM [ in reply to gun free zones ]

The last time I looked, campuses were murder free, rape free, drug free, felony free zones. How is that working? Making something illegal doesn't stop it. It just minimizes it to where only criminals are doings it. A well armed citizen can stop rapes and murders. Personal weapons carried by responsible citizens decrease crime. Stupid gun laws increase crime.

Laws only govern the law-abiding...Congress rarely takes

How many times in your time here have you said that?

Mar 14, 2013, 8:32 PM

I posted it here since it was about a clemson student, it was a campus wide e-mail sent out. I can't help what people make of it
