Clemson NBA players and the coaches who recruited

Feb 20, 2019, 2:48 AM

them. Judge brought up in another thread that BB has had 3 players in the NBA while both Barnes and OP each had 1. Now this is in no way a slam to Judge because even though I disagree on his opinion of BB, I respect that opinion and the thoughts behind it. But for me, this kind of shows what I've thought all along. That Barnes and OP to a lesser extent got more out of what they had them Brad seems to be able to, and for me that's the essence of coaching.

Brownell has 3 KJ and JB, now Grantham

Foster 3, Horace, I'll count Harvey, and Nance. Cliff had 5, Elden, Dale, Wright, Whitney and Gray. OP had Trevor. Barnes Buck and Jamison, 3 if you count Michael Tabb who transferred. Shyatt had Will Solomon.

I think that's it

Barnes had 2 in 4 years. Purnell i think only had 1 in 7

years and that was Trevor Booker. I tried to do a similar analysis last week, but it's difficult because looking at NBA players or NBA draft picks only reflects the number of star players on the team - not the overall talent level. The talent level on Purnell teams was absolutely higher than the average talent level on Brad's teams, and recruiting rankings reflect that, but guys like Rivers, Stitt, Hammonds, Grant, etc never played in the NBA. Those were all very good players for us.
