Mar 31, 2018, 8:50 AM

Look at all the trees behind the west end zone. That is a parking lot now. Wow!

Say Joe, couple questions: 1) when DID they start wearing helmets? And 2) What was IPTAY seat equity then?

(jk! .... thinking that in ‘42, you may have been a bit preoccupied with different things! )

They were probably coming out for warmups. They were wearing the leather helmets then. See pictures of Banks McFadden

thanks . for years I asked what was there before the concrete endzone addition. this answers that. Bet visitors each had a rusty nail to hang their stuff on where our guys probably were pampered with a new shiny nail to hang their stuff on

Remember attending at least 1 game in Furman’s Sirrine Stadium

on Cleveland St in G’ville SC & being amazed how beautiful that white stallion looked running up & down sideline after they scored!

And, their little wooden end zone dressing rooms about equalled our crude small ones.

Last time Clemson played at Furman 1962-I was there and Furman took a 3-0 lead, Clemson won 44-3.

I was at that game as well as a Furman fan. My dad started there in the early 40's and graduated in 1948. He spent 3 years in Europe working over a problem going on in Germany and surrounding areas.
At that game(at Sirrine Stadium) I was very much impressed with the loud spirit of the fans of the visiting Clemson people. I later in 1968 became one of them...
