2013 - 7,743 13-18 5-13

Attendance for last year was down 1,722 (18%) fans per game from 2010.

I think it shows that if we win, fans will follow. Build it and they will come.

Your last statement says it all - if we have a team people..

want to watch then they'll come. It all comes down to that.

And that all comes down to being able to recruit some real talent, not just one good player every once and awhile.

Hopefully, the rebuilt or new coliseum will make the difference in attracting talent. But I remember in the late 60s the same was said for when we moved out of Fike Fieldhouse into Littlejohn - that would be the thing that would take our basketball program to the next level but it didn't as it turned out.

I hope it will this time.

Regarding seat subject...

Feb 19, 2014, 10:42 AM

What bothers me, I've been asking for years to get two seats in the lower section, anywhere. They continue to tell me the only thing they have is in the upper section. But when you view the games, there are empty seats all over the lower section. I can fill two seats up every game. And I have been an Iptay donor for over 30 years.

Something is broken

if the season ticket holders would rather stay home and complain about student attendance when there are fans like you out there.

Something worth noting in your data....

Feb 19, 2014, 11:02 AM

is that we have the potential to finish .500 or above in ACC play again, for the 5th time in 6th years, if you go back to 2008.Considering the transition we went through and our history, that would be a pretty solid stat. It speaks to where we got to consistently under Purnell and how Brownell has been able to at least maintain that, with the exception of last season. Hopefully, there will be more than that eventually, but when you look at the rest of the ACC and see where teams like Wake, GT, etc. are continually buried below .500 after coaching changes, it shows that Brownell has done a solid job.

Now, another streak not in the data reveals that we have not won a post-season game of any sort since 2008 when we made that run in the ACC tournament. That would be one goal to tack on to this year's team...win at least ONE game in the ACC tourney. Then it'd be great to add additional post-season tourney wins (NCAA or NIT) to that. But let's win ONE ACC tourney game...mainly to build some sort of confidence for future years and get that monkey off of our back.

If we can go 4-1 the rest of the season and win a game in

the ACC Tournament, that might get us into the NCAAs. It would at least build some momentum and get fans more tuned in going into next year.
