A murdering doooshbag, power-tripping, potentially racist cop is not an indictment of a nation nor a system. It’s an indictment of that individual, and these types of a-holes killing black citizens is no more inherent to the system than pretty blonde girls getting abducted, despite the media’s penchant for trumping up coverage of both events equally.

99% of America despises this cop for what he did and thinks he should be locked up. Anecdotally, even the most “cops first” people I know, who always give LE the benefit of the doubt, have been saying that this week. There’s no “explaining away” going on in the country. From what I can tell it’s about as unified as we are on any given topic at the moment.

Appreciate Trevor’s heart clearly being in the right place, but this “come on and join me in denouncing this!” stuff is ultimately just a feel-good strawman that’s actually preaching to the choir.

problem, it’s a lack of condemnation of the systems and policies that let a murderer wear a badge after years of questionable behavior on the force. The whole of the criminal justice system ain’t exactly colorblind either. Look at arrest rates, sentencing rates, etc.

That injustice exists and we nitpick that it’s not that bad is kinda the problem.

by videos of the same ######.

Wonder when the “tough on crime” mantra will include being tough on cops who kill people in their custody? For the ten plus years since the videos started emerging, I have been giving Law Enforcement the benefit of the doubt in many of these cases.

I weary of rationalizing. Significant change is needed in many Law Enforcement agencies _ starting with employment screening and training. The bad cops need to be weeded out in order to not tarnish the good cops and the the overall image of Law Enforcement.
