How anyone can consider Atlanta a college town is beyond me.

Apr 22, 2015, 11:48 AM

Pittsburgh is even more of a college town than Atlanta.

Having gone to GA Tech after graduating from Clemson

I can most assuredly tell you Atlanta isn't anything close to being what I call a college town. It's a big business town that happens to have a few colleges.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I live in ATL

Apr 22, 2015, 2:33 PM

and definitely agree with what you just said. No one pulls for the sports teams because hardly anyone is from here! Even me lol

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You sure it's not a matter of how bad the teams are?

Apr 22, 2015, 4:17 PM

Only the Braves have a pretty hardcore and widespread fan base. Up into NC and over into TN and AL. The other teams have rarely played well enough to attract fans who didn't "grow up" with them. Whether transplants or not.

Certainly teams in other cities that are successful attract a pretty solid group of transplants. Patriots for example.

In a related story here are the SEC town rankings ...

Seems that they have been grossly misinformed!!! Clemson #1 college town PERIOD, and don't forget it!!!

yep this screams #3

Apr 22, 2015, 1:21 PM

The passion is what gives Clemson the best stadium in the league, the best gameday atmosphere and the most interwoven city.

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I actually agree with us at #3 in this poll

Apr 22, 2015, 1:28 PM

Clemson has hands down the best stadium, tailgate scene, game day atmosphere, football fanbase, most tradition in the ACC. However, I would probably have Clemson number 3 on the college town throughout the year list as well. Charlottesville and Chapel Hill are among the top four college towns in the nation along with Athens and Austin in my opinion. I love Clemson and wouldn't dream of going elsewhere but I feel like those four rank in some order ahead of Clemson, with Clemson in the top 10 college towns in the U.S.

Yes - Went to Syracuse for the game in 2013 and the city and college atmosphere was the worst ever!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Have the voters for this poll actually ever

Re: FB Update: Clemson ranked #3 best ACC Town

Apr 22, 2015, 6:42 PM

Sorry but I don't agree. I lived in Chapel Hill for a year and I've been to UVA several times and those places have nothing on Clemson.
