Chad Smith: NEVER GIVE UP

Chad Smith arrived in '15 as a highly-touted recruit. He redshirted, played on special teams 3 years and then finally earned a starting LB spot his senior season.

And now he's the Fiesta Bowl Defensive MVP.

Proud of you, Chad!

I too am very proud of Chad. Although not really highly touted. Dabo believed in him as did CBV. Teams offered:

Charlotte
ODU
Toledo
Illinois
Va Tech
Pitt
Wisky

Just goes to show Dabo’s development.

Not only could he not break into the starting line up, he really couldn’t break into the two deep above the Davis twins, Joseph, Lamar, Jalen Williams, etc.

I was doubtful of his speed and ability. I was wrong. He is a great college linebacker for us this year. Skalski and Smith fill the gaps well, don’t get hurt, and play smart football.

Watching Chad Smith play so well this year serves to remind us how good the Davis twins actually were since Smith could not pass them on the depth chart.

He loves Clemson and continued to work regardless of playing time, he has the eye of the Tiger, he never gave up and kept clawing!

He's basically anoth Spencer Shuey but maybe a little faster. I think Shiey was the defensive MVP against OSU in 2014
