Chad Morris

High school head coach in Texas… offensive coordinator at Tulsa… offensive coordinator at Clemson… offered a supposed 1.5 million per year, which would be the highest paid salary given to an assistant in the nation, to join Urban Meyer’s staff as offensive coordinator at Ohio State.
I remember when I was coaching down at Florida, we would always lose kids in recruiting battles to Clemson. I would tell my coaches that we shouldn’t be losing kids to Clemson. Charlie Strong responded ‘coach have you ever actually been to Clemson?’ I hadn’t but I’ll tell you what, I’ve been here now and I get it. This is an exceptional, special place.
He's now making 1.8 million as an assistant. I guess a $200,000 raise (or more), and the title of HC could possibly lure him away, but he would then be responsible for the whole team and not just the offense. Just saying...

For 2 million a year or so...I would find a way to make the most out of Lubbock, if only for a few years.

Seriously, the place looks like a wasteland. Still, I've been many places across this country and never understood how people could call it home.

His mentor, Gus Malzahn, took a head coaching job

and one year later got the Auburn job. It seems the big schools won't consider you if you have never been a head coach. The sooner he can get a head coaching job, the quicker he can be considered for the ones he covets most and the more likely he will be ready should one open up.
I think there's a good chance he takes the best of the options available to him this year instead of waiting another year. (Plus, he only makes $1.3, so it would be a $700K+ raise. not too shabby)

POSSIBILITIES FOR "IN": If he's interested, there seems to be only one natural choice: 33-year-old Texas A&M offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, the former record-setting Red Raider quarterback, Leach assistant and lead offensive assistant for Kevin Sumlin's Air Raid attacks at both Houston and A&M. With Oklahoma State OC Todd Monken out of the picture, Kinsbury declining the job could lead to an offer to Baylor's Art Briles, Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables (who has ties to Tech AD Kirby Hocutt), or another Leach disciple, East Carolina OC Lincoln Riley. (Dec. 11)
