dismissed himself from the team. I'm sure Coach Swinney went into yesterdays meeting with the intentions of putting a corrective action plan in place for Chad. He choose not to take the punishment that he had earned and walk away from the program. Coach Swinney has done this for several players in the past SW,MB, and DA come to mind, they choose to take the punishment and stay apart of the team. Sammy could have easily packed his bags and gone to another program after his freshman year lots of programs would have taken him with open arms.


I was wrong about Kelly I thought he would stepup and take his punishment and work even harder. I was very wrong Kelly is blinded by his own opinion of himself hopefully he will take this and learn and become the player he can be somewhere else.

If he said no to the chastisement he may have been tossed off the team. I don't think him leaving was his idea.

I just don't think his action in the spring game and the car thing alone would have gotten him kick off the team. I do think it would have gotten him a suspension for the first 2 to 4 games next year. I think once Coach let him know what his actions had caused Chad lost control and walked away from the program.

we have a high standard of conduct for our student-athletes at Clemson University. Though we provide the resources and mentoring to all of our student-athletes, we are also responsible to the community at large and to the ideals and values of Clemson University.
