IPTAY’s #1 Member?
Frank wanted to be there so he’d be high over DV so to hear His BOYS Play.
PS: I slowly drove my RV Van thru it a day b/4 a game in 2018 and as always found it to be a special, quiet, historical site that keeps its secrets secret.

My freshman year, our English GA made us go out there as a class and write a paper on death. Rather strange.

We had a tradition years ago to stop by the on-campus Chick-fil-A on the way down to the stadium before every game. Well, one season we showed up for the first game and found some egghead decided to no longer allow Chick-fil-A to open on game days to increase business for the new dining hall nearby.
Well, the next game we started a new tradition of bringing our Chick-fil-A's from home, sitting on the wall at Cemetary Hill to eat them, and paying our respects to Coach Howard before going into the game.

One item on our Rat Scavenger Hunt was to find the number of iron rods on the gates to cemetery Hill. That was my first time ever hearing of it. The entrance in '68 was a little more subdued and out of the way.

Back around 1980, Coach Howard was asked about his chosen gravesite. He said something to the effect... He wanted to always hear the roar of the Tigers on spring Saturdays.

Fall 1973... first year Architecture... I had a class in Olin Hall with a little "free time" afterwards and I would walk over to Cemetery Hill, maybe read a little bit and just meditate for a while. Never knew such peace. As the years progressed, and the hours and the schedule got more insane, I would still take some time to return and capture the peace. and Go Tigers....

Back in the day, one of the benefits given to new employees of Clemson was a burial plot. Seems kind of strange, but it’s true.

My grandparents are buried there. Grandfather taught there for 50 years. Started Tiger Brotherhood and built that plane hanging in Winds and Wheels.

We moved to Clemson In 1948 because my dad go a job teaching at the college. We lived in housing provided by Clemson just outside the entrance to the cemetery. Lots of fond memories.

Anyone wanting to find Coach without wandering around... climb the North stands road from either side to the gate...see the cedar tree and walk straight thru the cemetery about 100 feet...
