He’s wrapping a leaking boat with duck tape. But this guy Caslan doesn’t seem to be a company guy. My bet is he clears house this year.

If they're going to boot him...

they'll wait until after 12/31 when the buyout reduces by about $2.5 million.
Frankly, uof5c is going to suck again next year too so they might as well retain CussChamp one more year, struggle to finish 6 - 6 (at best), cut him loose then, and further reduce the buyout.

Caslen is a different kind of college president. He played football at West Point. He retired from the Army as a three-star general after five years as the superintendent at West Point. His three sons are a firefighter, an Army captain, and an FBI special agent. He's going to expect results, not excuses. He may fire everyone.

Caslen isn't exactly acting from a position of political strength.

There is lingering resentment among many of the school's faculty, some of its big donors & a small but vocal segment of the students about his installation as university president. Meanwhile the BoT is divided to the point of paralysis, & political interference always looms over their decision-making.
Caslen, for his part, does come off as a strong-willed, circle-the-wagons-&-tell-the-critics-to-go-to-hell type of leader. But his support at the university is not very deep, & he may not even last long in the position. So my guess is that he'd be disinclined to make sweeping changes any time soon.
Thus for the short-term it's looking like stasis - more Muschamp & more Tanner. And in the medium-term continued dysfunction, with little prospect of decisive, visionary leadership & even less prospect of unity.

Given the nearly universal disappointment with the fan base, he would probably put a few notches in his belt if he fired Tanner and Muschamp. If he wants unity, leading a compelling vision to be a better football program could take him there.

There is truth in what you're saying, especially with regard to the value - & the unifying power of - a winning football program. No doubt Caslen understands this. But if he were to just clean house & say heck with the buyouts, there would surely be a backlash among media, faculty, some donors, & at least a few members of the BoT. Paying out such staggering sums of $$ just to pay football coaches not to coach while tuition costs go ever higher & students are drowning in debt would not be a good look.
In any case, it now looks like they've got Muschamp & Tanner at least 1 more year. That being the case, what they need to do posthaste is find a way to retire Tanner, then bring in a competent, professional AD who can then can Muschamp after the 2020 season. Whatever their individual opinions, nobody in Colatown trusts Tanner choosing the next head football coach.

with multiple stars? They have gotten to a point in their careers that they are almost autonomous. They don't answer to anyone on a regular basis. They make decisions without looking over their shoulder.
On top of that, he doesn't need the University of South Carolina to further his career.
I doubt he will cower or cater to anyone, even the BOT.

Well I see one huge flaw in his approach already. Cuzz doesn't even know where he is! He's talking about what he's going to do at USC......he thinks he's in south Cali and not South Carolina. Might help to know the school's name before you start....just saying.

Someone is toast, just don't know who yet. Cheaper to fire Tanner now, get a new AD, give him a year to get his feet under him and then cut Muscrat loose next season saving 4.2 mil.

When those weasels on the scar BOT and in the state house get through with him it's going to make President Trump's impeachment look like an honorable process.

on the football field, leaving the University of South Carolina leadership no choice but to fire Cusschamp.
I don't see how they can afford to wait until after 12/31/19. Yes, it would save them $2.5 million, but it assures that they have no shot at a decent recruiting class for 2020.
