Car have 50k miles on it? Consider replacing the battery.

I was running errands with my special lady friend yesterday. When she ran into Homegoods I turned the car off, but had the radio on. I was sitting there thinking, you know, this car has 55k miles on it. I should probably replace the battery soon. A little preventative maintenance. She comes out of the store, gets in the car, I turn the key and click click click click click click. ####### thing's dead! Next thing I know we're rolling downhill through the parking lot and I pop the clutch with the car in 1st gear. It sprung back to life and we went straight to Autozone for a new battery. Could have been worse, but it was some really weird timing.

battery go, I've had some warning. I could tell at startup that it was fading. I was able to get to the parts store JUST in time. It had one crank left when I moved it from one side of the store to a space with better light.

the oil at least every 25k miles. No thanks, Mr. Big-spender. The next buyer of my car can do their own maintenance just fine...they don't need me doing it for them.

on the car, but I do know the battery how been in there for 10 yrs.... the HHR is the everyday car for back/forth to work
so.. 40 miles a day 5 days a week 52 weeks 10 years so 104000
not counting trips to Grv when it was new.

with a blowed up car, and bought a new one off the lot. Pretty cool feeling actually.
Once, the transmisson had turned to jello, so it was left behind as scrap metal with tires.
The other time I was able to get the car repaired (it was the infamous GM "catastrophic engine shutdown" ignition switch issue which was a recall/lawsuit), so in that instance I kept the old one as well as the new one (it was time, as it had 200K miles; it's my backup car now).

seat cover replacements for my 215k mile Pathfinder. They were a little too expensive for an older car so I bought a new car, cause you know, that is a helluva lot cheaper.
