Use good paint for the cabinets. They're a crazy-high wear area.
I painted ours years ago as a stop gap between 2015 and when I eventually replace them. Even good paint will start to look cruddy around the handles and whatnot. Spring for the best available.
If your wife/kids are as sloppy as mine are, expect to get water on them around the sink. The MDF doesn't play well with water.

got the idea from this site
http://www.naptimedecorator.net/diy/from-drab-to-fab-adding-trim-to-cabinets/From Drab to Fab: Adding trim to Cabinets Oh MAN you guys! I’m so excited about this post I can’t even tell you! It’s been something I’ve wanted to do forEVER and I finally bit the bullet last week and tackled it! B…
The deal with the wife is, if she wants me to do a project, I get to buy the tools to do said project. I'm hoping with this one I can get an orbital sander, portable air compressor, and a paint sprayer.
I'm just not sure if wood glue would hold it by itself or if I need a nail gun to hold the moulding on.

There is no way in heyall, even with all the brand new tools on your credit card, that yours will turn out looking this way.

Just measure and order replacement doors and drawer fronts and install yourself.
That way you get a much better product at a more affordable price.
There are tons of websites that offer this.

I have 30 cabinet doors not including drawers. Be over 1K to go that route.
Or I can get 230 feet of moulding for all of it for right at $200.

the tush."
My point is... maybe save your penies and do it right. Be realistic about your current skill level. Maybe try one drawer and see how it turns out.
Use lots of caulk. It'll really help clean up the cuts and joints if you're dead set on doing it yourself.

Will 3 inches of caulk work?
Jul 1, 2020, 12:36 PM

Put the caulk in 45 degree cut and push both pieces together then wipe off the excess.
That's what you're talking about?
