They had an ok crowd but lost hope after getting down by 10. Makes me feel blessed to be a Clemson Tiger

Don't act like we're perfect. We saw tons filing out during the NC State final drive in our section. Made us so mad.

Very sad considering the significance of that game within the coastal division.

It's really got to be hard for the Panthers to compete in a big city when it comes to having three professional teams in the Steelers,Pirates and Penguins

I always see crowd about this much, but they always list the attendance at around 45,000-50,000. The only time that I saw the stadium was close than packed was earlier this year against Penn State.
Don't be surprised if this one was about 40,000-45,000.

I was going to guess around 48K. About 65%

of Clemson's capacity is in the lower deck. If that stadium is similar(most upper decks are much smaller), then it can be very deceiving when you see a 1/2 full upper. The #s come from the lower and it looked like a good crowd early on.

I believe DV capacity was 43,500 before the upper decks were added.

There are only like 30K seats in the upper decks combined

the 43K # you are familiar with does not include additional capacity that has been added over the years(additional west and east EZ seating through changes). The seats may have been resized also - not sure. I've seen info with seating capacity for the decks(may have been on some of the seat equity plans a few years ago). When we go over capacity and hit #s like 85k, all the extra are lower too. So out of 85K, you're talking about approx 55K lower and 30K upper.

Please don't denigrate the ACC & our league brethren.

I live in Columbia & trust me - I hear enough ACC-bashing already. The ACC is a football conference that we should be proud of, & Pittsburgh absolutely belongs in the ACC.
Pitt actually averaged 48,000+ per game last year, which ranks it in the top 50 nationwide. Not bad for a program that in recent years has had only middling success & that has to compete against the Steelers, Penguins & Pirates for fan support. As for that Va Tech game, attendance drops off for Thursday games almost everywhere - even Death Valley is no exception. Perhaps the reason the crowd looked so sparse is that the seats at Heinz Field are painted yellow, which really makes the empties show on the TV screen. But this isn't exactly a case of a program suffering from fan apathy. Pitt has a lot of potential - a winning tradition (including a national title in 1976), rich territory to recruit, finally in a stable Power 5 conference - & I for one am happy to have them in our league.

We play Pitt later - they have shown a few good plays against VT, but not a problem for the TIGERS.

I know it's several years away, but I sure do want to attend that game. Surely we can help them fill that stadium! Pittsburgh is a beautiful, happening, thriving city with great sports, first-rate universities (Pitt, Carnegie-Mellon & Duquesne) & a multitude of cultural amenities. Beyond that, it's undoubtedly one of the coolest American cities to drive in, with all its hills, tunnels & bridges. If you haven't been there, do yourself a favor & visit - you won't be disappointed.
