The story as I understood it was that Meyer was stunned anyone would pick Clemson over Florida. Charlie strong (then UF DC) asked "have you ever been to Clemson?" Meyer said no and Strong replied that if he wanted to make sure a player doesn't go to Clemson, make sure he never visits the campus. Meyer later did a game for TV after he left UF and told the story during the broadcast and said that after visiting the campus, "now I understand why people go to Clemson".

that a man's mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.
As much as I like both the Bowden and Tebow families, I think landing Tebow in '06 would have delayed building the foundation of what has note become a solid and elite football program.
I love what CDS is doing and it sure is fun being a Tiger!

If Tebow had come in 2006, he would have been the quarterback in 2009. No way we lose to Maryland that awful Saturday. Bowden keeps his job. Dabo never gets promoted.
Thus Dabo knew what he was doing in making that phone call in 2006 to Tebow that we were no longer recruiting him
