Gonna be sweating bullets @ Syracuse

Sep 22, 2013, 6:37 PM

Just read this excerpt from the Wikipedia article about the Carrier Dome. Sheesh!

"Despite carrying the name Carrier (an HVAC manufacturer), there is no air conditioning in the dome. The need for it is presumed low, as the facility is primarily used during the academic year (August–May), during most of which the outside temperatures rarely go far above room temperature, although it can get very hot in August and September. However, the temperatures greatly rise when filled to capacity even in November".

I feel bad for my cousin and his family who are huge Clemson fans up in downtown Syracuse. Gonna be hot has Hades down up there!

If they don't condition inside the dome while it's filled...

to capacity then we've got the edge. We practiced and conditioned in our new facility when the humidity was 100% and the temperature was nearly that high too. They are screwed if they think they've got an advantage.

Not quite sure how you figure that...

I'm pretty sure Syracuse is used to playing in their own dome. Not saying we won't be fine, just found it an odd statement.

The historic temperature for Oct 5th shows an average high of 64 and a low of 45... I think they'll be alright...

Very familiar with the Dome. It will be very hot but the tigers should be just fine given their practices in the humidity and temperatures at Clemson in August. Fans will be very warm and bring a pair of shorts to wear even if it is cold outside. Wife and I are going and we will. GOOOOO TIGERS!!!!

Exactly Hodges. the dome can be a furnace for early september games but its not going to be hot at all on October 5th. You'll actually find it comfortable even at capacity.
