Can you imagine the older coots that realize that they

Oct 3, 2018, 8:44 AM

might not live long enough to ever see USUC beat CLEMSON? That has to be a depressing feeling. I know old coots that are basically giving up on football and simply do not watch anymore. At least that's what they tell me. But wimmenz BBall is still exciting for them.

I know a gamecock fan who has been a season ticket holder for 40 years. Last weekend he decided to call it quits.

Man it took him 40 years to quit. That’s a lot of waisted money.

In some ways you feel sorry for them...

...but in other ways it's easy to have disdain for their plight. Stupid is as stupid does.

I've never seen an official study done of this.....

but it would stand to reason that SCAR - and its fans - have spent more dollars per win than any other major football program in existence. And for championships, there is no doubt. One conference championship in 125+ years? NO DOUBT.

Many programs have spent more, but they have more wins and championships to show for it. Some (like Vandy, for example) may be as historically unsuccessful as SCAR, but they have spent way less along the way.

At least some of the older ones got to experience a championship way back in 1969.
All of the ones that are less than 50 years old have never in their lifetime seen the ##### win
any kind of football championship.
And to actually remember it, they would probably have to be at least 60 years old now.

Wow....Im a 51 yr. old Clemson fan, and I have seen Clemson win 2 national title and about 12 or more conference championships.. The real kicker is Clemson has played in CFP the last few years, so not just the winning, but we also have played for a few more conference championships and national championships that we lost...USuC has not even sniffed one...I COULDN'T IMAGINE BEING A GAMECOCK ALUMNI, FAN, or have anything to do with USuC football...What a bunch of losers...So Thankful to be a Clemson Tiger!!!

They have not even been to a major bowl game. Orange, Cotton, Sugar, Fiesta, Rose .

Wow, nearly 50 years without a conference championship

Is there any other college to have suffered such a drought.

The mid 30s and up fans have it even worse. They know this is actually a return to normal. Probably even more painful.

I knew one (deceasd now) who was a huge Coot fan for over

35 years. He finally got fed up with the losing and bailed out right at the end of the SlobberLou Holtz era. He never looked back, even when they hired and had their little aberration run of success under the Old Ball Sack. I guess when you finally bail out on the misery, you realize how much better off you are.
