Re: COVID-19 Map for SC

of course these maps never show how many tests are conducted so it's just a panic map.
Here are the numbers:
In the US, they've tested ~100,000 people
about 12% of the people tested have tested positive. Predominately, the people tested are presenting with symptoms. So that's 12% of the people presenting with issues or symptoms test positive.
Of those 12%, about 1% are dying from Chinese Virus.
They're testing many more people each day, so the raw numbers will go up. Hearing "20 more people have tested positive..." doesn't mean what it did yesterday when they test twice as many people today!
https://covidtracking.com/data/The COVID Tracking Project The COVID Tracking Project collects information from 50 US states, the District of Columbia, and 5 other U.S. territories to provide the most comprehensive testing data we can collect for the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2.

If you scroll down slightly past the map, it gives you exact numbers:

Flagged as Russian propaganda with DHS

The real number of infected people in the US is still going up and will continue for a while. It's not going up because we are testing more people, it's going up because that's what infectious disease does without mitigation. Testing more people just gives you a more accurate picture.
Mitigation only started a few days ago and still isn't in effect in a handful of states. There's a 5-11 day lag between exposure and symptoms or a positive test, so we won't see the effects of mitigation immediately. The president didn't take it seriously until a few days ago (there's an audio and video record, as much as he tries to lie about it).

but when it's a regurgitation of the Russian propaganda meant to minimize the virus threat, I have to speak out. That propaganda had all of Fox News (minus the guy with the red wig) and Trump in thrall until Mike Pence took over.

compared to other SC counties?
Is there a nursing home or assisted living facility there with a high volume of elderly infected with the CoronaVirus?

But just think about this. When they started shutting down college sports, there was some on here that said it was just a scare tactic by the government bc it was election year, Just WOW. That is what you call being really pisssed about not having their sports to pass their time by, and they want sports to continue on at any cost!!!

look up the numbers for H1N1. 13,000 people died in 6 months. Do you remember what we had to do through that 'crisis'?

9,800 people have now died in 2.5 months. Want to wager on that number 4.5 months from now compared to your 13,000. I'll take the over.

Worldwide was a lot more. Big difference is we had effective antiviral treatments like Tamiflu and knew how to make flu vaccines.
