CFP scenario where CU is out in the end?

Nov 7, 2019, 8:28 AM

I hate even thinking like this but here is something that sat me up in the bed last night

Current rankings
1 Ohio St
2 LSU
3 Bama
4 Penn St
5 CU Suppose the lower ranked team wins the match up between 2/3 and 1/4

If the losses by the higher ranked teams are close, then the following could happen...

Say Bama beats LSU 27-24 and moves to 2, LSU falls to 4, Oh St stays at 1, Penn St. goes to 3

Next week Penn St. beats Oh. St. 30-28, Bama goes to 1, Penn St 2, LSU 3, Oh St falls to 4
and we are still at 5.

Do any of you experts think anything this crazy happens? I sure hope not

Only way we are out is if we lose a game. Period

I don't think it possible to win out and not be in the top 4

In your scenario it is 100% certain that the media will try to keep us out of the top 4.

LSU is being propped up to be the team to sneak in at last minute. If they lose a close one on the road Saturday alot of strange things can happen. The treatment of Clemson all year is leading to some type of BS at end. I hope not but keep an eye on LSU!

If we win out we will have two more wins than

Either of the losers of those two games plus a conference championship. We wouldn’t be left out. If we lose a game we are out unless people start losing games.

The only way Clemson gets left out of the CFP is if they lose a game. Period, end of story.

Talk about "scenarios" where an undefeated Clemson gets left out are pure fantasy, and just talk.

Imagine any scenario you like if it makes you feel good. An undefeated Clemson is 100% in the CFP.

If Baylor goes undefeated and LSU loses a close one on the road, watch out. I don't trust that commitee one bit they're already training the minds of people to believe Clemson doesn't belong.

I still don't think it happens but I think that your scenario works better with Ohio State beating Penn State in a close game. Penn State will have had a harder schedule and be on the road.

If we lose, we are likely out without a LOT of help.

Still, if we lose to NC State, Wake, Coots, or a Coastal team, we are not a top 4 team. Period.
