CFP Committee Problem

Nov 10, 2019, 8:46 AM

LSU, OSU and Clemson are now easy choices, but what about the #4 slot? Some think UGA will move up, but how can you say that UGA is more deserving than 'Bama, when "bama lost by only 5 points to the #1 selection and UGA lost to a sorry UofSC that can't even beat AppState? On this basis, 'Bama gets the #4 spot.

But if you look at who remains unbeaten, then Minnesota deserves to make an historic jump in rankings to the #4 spot, which means that the committee was way off in their assessment of teams..... and not just Minnesota.... particularly PSU as well.

Whether the committee was diabolical enough to set up a situation designed to produce hype and conversation, knowing that it would work itself out - or if they really did have an anti-Clemson bias may never be known.... but one thing is sure...... they have earned any criticism coming their way and set the stage for talk about an 8-team playoff, a different committee structure..... or both.

I think UGA will be the 4th team per the committee, but I dont feel that they deserve to be there.

If that happens, I guess the rationale will be that because UofSC is in the SEC, that makes their win over UGA a quality loss for UGA due to the tough SEC schedule.
