CANCELLED Flights-an education

I posted yesterday that a bunch of flights (including mine) were cancelled into DFW. American put us on another flight which was to be today and taking eight hours to get there (my original flight was a direct from GSP), so that was kind of a bummer. Turns out, though, that you can cancel half of your ticket if the airline cancels your flight, and they refund your money for just that leg. I was able to find a direct flight this afternoon from Southwest for less than the refunded amount...So even though I am flying a day later, I got a better flight with some extra popcorn and coke money in my pocket, and am on the originally scheduled flight back home.

Most of you probably know this, but I didn't, and will certainly keep it in my back pocket...Go Tigers!
