By now Venables knows where the weaknesses are on defense.

We will see how good he is at coaching up inexperienced and unskilled players. I think he has what it takes. I hope I'm pleasantly suprised in two weeks.

I don't doubt at all that he has what it takes - am glad....

to see some players starting to step up on defense - glad to see some improvement.

I don't know if coaching can fix our lack of DE production,

Oct 8, 2012, 11:30 AM

or if bad tackling can be fixed this season, but certainly things like the LBs failing to get outside and protect the edge over and over and over again, and the busted coverages in the secondary are correctable.

they better be correctable... especially the LBs

cuz that's our only hope at stopping connor shaw scrambling.

Re; You would certainly hope so. LBS & secondary aren't

The weakest spot by far is the safety position. They have struggled with tackling. They are trying to tackle too high. Meeks played patty cake with the QB for about 30 yards, instead wrapping both his legs.

We all know the D needs to improve drastically, but even know ing that, Venables is the man for the job. He's making our D better, and he's adjusting pretty darn well during the game too.
