Buying your own fireworks is overrated if you like dogs.

Jul 2, 2016, 5:11 PM

My neighbors have been blowing up M-80's for days terrifying the dogs in the neighborhood. One dog of my other neighbor has already ran away in fear and we are still hoping to find him. Anyway, fireworks are overrated. Bah Humbug! I am a still patriotic though.

1 is terrified of fireworks, but not scared of anything else in the world. He is my drinking buddy for bars even and I take him even abroad. He is terrified of fireworks. Some are and some aren't even if they are exposed to noise.

is the scarediest basset hound in the Western world. Poor thing is liable to shiver the house down around our ears. We've had some dogs that wouldn't bat an eye at the Big Bang, but this dog child....

and/or too lazy to care about them.

One (the smallest of course, a dachshund) tries her best to climb or dig under the fence to go "fight" whoever is responsible for making the noises. She'll spend all night barking herself hoarse until the noise stops.

The last one, a Toller mix, after the first pop, will jump on me, or frantically dig herself behind me if I'm sitting down (same for thunderstorms). She won't get more than 6 inches away from me the rest of the night, including the insistence to sleep under the covers (she sleeps on a couch in another room on a typical night). Just becomes a shivering, neurotic mess.
