jounge advice needed-talk me into a new grill setup

Old gas grill is deaded. Been running through cheap gas grills every 2-3 years, looking for something that will last longer (TWSS).
Have been thinking kamado type, but seems like I may still need a gas one for quickies. Am I wrong here?
Not looking to spend a G on a grill, so prolly in the 5-6 hundie range. Not overly wanting a smoking feature but titwood be a nice add on.
Anyjuan got any good wreckormendations?

I think I'd use that far more than I do the grill.

I bought the 22" to take camping.
I use it all the dang time now. It stays set up on the patio at home.
We just got back from vacation and we cooked on it every day. We at least cooked breakfast on it.
I did fried rice and hibachi chicken, Tacos/Fajitas, burgers and dogs, grilled cheeses, and the list goes on and on.
best purchase I have made in a while.
Cant wait to take it tailgating.

Is the 22 big enough to cook for a decent group of people? I've got limited patio space but am considering buying one because I think I'd use it more than my charcoal grill/smoker.

you can always use more space. If it were stationary I would have gone bigger.
the thing about the flat top is that you move the food around a lot.
I cooked fried rice and chicken one night for 6 and it was tough.
keeping the food separate was impossible.
I cooked the veggies first and then the rice. The other side of the grill was dedicated to the chicken.

Get a Weber Genesis

Pick the number of elements, side burner etc you need/want/afford.
The glare off stainless is brutal on a sunny day so I recommend basic black.
And parts that wear out through normal use are cheap and easy to replace.
You can add a pellet box to get smoke when you want it to I’ve even just made a foil pouch with good results

Buy a kamado and don't look back. Mrs Old Slac got me

a BGE for my birthday about 10 yrs ago and it completely changed the way we cook. Doesn't take as long as you think to heat up, so it's easy to light it up and throw on a quick burger. It'll hold a steady low temp, like 225, for over 24 hrs when you want to do a long smoke. Want to sear a piece of tuna or a prime beef? It'll go over a 1000°, which will burn your face off if not careful. Pizzas are awesome on it.
Whatever you buy, get a ceramic disk and a solid drip pan to do indirect cooking. ceramicgrillstore.com is the bomb for any and all accessories and they make good stuff at half the price of BGE.
After the first burger I made on the BGE, I swore at myself for cooking on gas for the past 20 yrs. Alllll that meat that could've been tastier.

I don't even cover it up anymore half the time. No real issues with rust or anything. I always wanted a ceramic one, but would be hard pressed to spend the money after seeing how the Akorn has held up.

out door kitchen. Big sink in the middle flanked by a stove top on one side and griddle on the other. Past griddle side, gas grill top for quick hitters. Other side the charcoal grill.

very versatile and is "set it and forget it" easy.
What ever you do go to amazingribs.com and see reviews of grills.
I have a cheap one, but will be getting a Memphis or Yoder grill soon - still saving and deciding.
