Butch Jones just got a $500,000 raise...

Dec 14, 2015, 6:34 PM

I need this guys agent! From Footballscoop.com...

Tennessee: As we stated weeks ago, the raise being discussed for Butch Jones is now official. Jones amended contract includes a $500,000 raise, bringing his annual salary to $4.1 million. Butch has five-years left on his contract, and the extension he signed last year took him through the 2020 season.

And there are people who can't buy their kids Christmas. This Chump makes 4.1 million a year.

Meanwhile the coach of the number one team is making 3.3 mill.

True, I'd be shocked if Dabo gets anything less than 4M after this year but my point was paying someone 4.1 for mediocre results is pitiful.

Who would have thought we would see the day that a once proud program would be happy with mediocrity. Maybe they are paying him for good recruiting classes and not on the field results.

Sometimes coaches aren't paid just on results

In this case the school may think it is cheaper to pay him a little extra and give him a year or few longer than to find a new coach. Not that the other option would be to fire him. But if they think that bump keeps him from bolting for another year, it still could be cheaper.
