I see my old Atari 5200

Friend had a 2600 I used to play. Parents bought that 5200 for me and I wore it out. Pre-nintendo era.

Apparently MicroCenter is still in business, I remember

going into the Fairfax store many years ago and nearly had a geekgasm. It was like the full Newegg online store, IN PERSON.

I haven't bought anything from Newegg in ~8 years now, Amazon is always on par with the cost and easier returning.

I've been itching to do a I9-10900K build, but I really don't have a good enough justification yet.

This seems harmless, maybe not to a wallet, but

Jul 8, 2020, 10:59 AM [ in reply to Apparently MicroCenter is still in business, I remember ]

harmless. Build it because you want to, figure out the rest later.

Oh, it's definitely a wallet harm, haha.

I think at this point, saving up for a big European trip instead of dropping $3000 on a new computer build.

I wouldn’t until the price of graphics cards go down.

The bitcoin boom raised the costs of high end cards so high, It’ll take a few years to get back to normal.

Worked at Radio Shack in the late 80s, sold a 286 machine

Jul 8, 2020, 10:34 AM

with accessories for around $3K. We weren't allowed to sell the 386s, because they were only for businesses, according to our manager.

Man, in 92 my roommate had a 486 DX/66

That thing was friggin LIGHTSPEED. Still remember the luxury of completing my chemistry lab work in Johnstone and then walking down to Hunter with my 5.25 floppy (inb4 floppy peenus pun) and uploading my work to get graded.
