Booing "injured" players and TV

Oct 26, 2014, 11:11 AM

Sure we get why they are being booed, but when the rest of the country watches it, it really comes off classless. Thankfully the announcer kept telling the audience why the crowd was booing. As a Clemson fan, it even came off to me as unsportsmanlike. I can see booing the obvious, but booing every single player that goes down is embarrassing... especially when TV announces one had to be taken back to the locker room.

I literally watched one guy from the stands go from fine to just casually laying down. Most of the crowd saw it and lost it. It was obvious. And it was always when our o finally started to click.wow what a coincidence.

It's got to the boy who cried wolf now. Most fans don't believe it anymore.

you ever cramped up when playing a sport?

Didn't think so.....it can happen at any time

Are you insinuating he has never played a sport before?

Oct 26, 2014, 2:03 PM [ in reply to you ever cramped up when playing a sport? ]

Are you saying he isn't athletic enough to have ever played a sport, or are you saying he played sports but stayed well hydrated and never cramped up? More clarity is needed.

And if you are insulting his athletic ability, how is that any better than booing an "injured" player?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wasn't the player taken to the locker room the OT ?

Oct 26, 2014, 11:16 AM

Don't remember booing when the Offense guys were hurt, just the defensive guys getting the old SEC timeouts. Could be wrong, will check later when I rewatch the game .

We did boo when one of their offensive players got hurt but other than that the rest was defense.

The easy answer is do not get hurt when we are on a roll

Not trying to be a smart ### but really who cares. I could care less what other fans think of Clemson. We are trying to win football games and be a hostile place for the other teams.

Re: Booing "injured" players and TV

Oct 26, 2014, 11:41 AM

Wrong attitude IMO. For years we have taken pride in being one of the most hostile places to play while still exhibiting class, respect, and hospitality to opposing fans and their players. If we are going to start behaving like Jets or Eagles fans then that would be a shame.

I'm not trying to be one either but we should care what other fans think of us and clemson. It could influence what recruits or parents of recruits think of when they hear clemson..plus what Dabo stands for as a coach and as a person, it just doesn't look good for clemson, the team or its fans with the booing

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was concerned they wouldn't be fielding a team in 2nd half

Oct 26, 2014, 11:45 AM

when you start getting leg cramps on a 60 degree night in the 2nd QUARTER, your team cannot be in very good playing shape.

It was on ESPNU, the rest of the country wasn't watching.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You make good point but I still think we r justified

Oct 26, 2014, 11:52 AM

Don't fake injuries and then they will see a different behavior and we are very classy.
When they fake injuries, we as fans cannot tell anymore of what is real or what is not real watching from a distance. It is hard to make out what is going in unless u r watching tv.
Anyway orange, you are as classy as your coach is. We know his class first hand.

Re: You make good point but I still think we r justified

Oct 26, 2014, 12:14 PM

At first I thought it was the flop thing due to their coach but I'm not certain they were faking. I think they kept cramping up. When you get a cramp like that you need help right away and then it just goes away after a minute or so. I did see one questionable guy get up after a play and then drop back down.

These idiots were sitting in our season seats when we arrived and claimed they couldn't find four together so
They took ours and it's ok because they drove so far. This other drunk cuse fan starting beating his wife and had to be removed. Their little punk team tried to run and block the hill and antagonize students....they have 0
Class. To top it off they're too dumb to know situational football and realize their player was walking and fell down to give them an extra timeout

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Only IDIOTS don't know why our fans are booing.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

People watching on TV don't know. The refs HAVE to call an

injury timeout. Booing isn't going to change that.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yea, I think it makes us look like we know they're faking

Oct 26, 2014, 2:13 PM

And we're sick of OTHER TEAMS being classless. Stand up, be a man, and play us like men. That's Bush League. I wish our guys would give them a harder time over it.

Re: Booing "injured" players and TV

Oct 26, 2014, 2:27 PM

You are correct. Suppose a player really is hurt. Let the refs determine if a player is faking and give them the benefit of the doubt. It is totally lacking class to boo if you are aren't 100% sure that a player is faking. This should not be at Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Booing "injured" players and TV

Oct 26, 2014, 2:28 PM

We need to have a moratorium on the "classless " post. If you can't handle what the majority does watch golf ahole

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it's totally classless and embarrassing anyway you cut it

Oct 26, 2014, 5:04 PM

I have to try to explain the non-sense then to my kids. If they are actually flopping, is it going to make some type of difference by booing? I mean seriously give it a rest people.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're 100% right.

Oct 26, 2014, 5:05 PM

It's totally classless and embarrassing anyway you cut it to fake injuries to slow down an offense.

Oct 26, 2014, 5:13 PM

resolving a thing-- push for a rule change where timeouts are spent regardless of injury, then you'll know they are all real -- otherwise you have no clue

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: and booing then takes you to their level without

Oct 26, 2014, 5:36 PM

Until we get a rule change it will continue to happen. Some teams play dirty. Fake injuries and intentional pass interference in the end zone are both excelllent dirty tactics against us. We can fix the offense to make them less effective or pray for rule changes. I vote the former.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up
