At how much Trump folks adore the men and women hired to work under Trump, and then they turn on them the moment they speak out against the president.
Ever think that when enough of your people leave the job and start speaking out against you, the problem might just be you?

General consensus was Bolton was a war mongering deep state creep from day one. Problem is, Trump didn’t know very many people in DC when it came time to staff his WH. He had to rely on the recommendations of insiders that he also didn’t know well, hence all the resignations and dismissals. You also need to be mindful that these people all come from the SES which has its own hiring protocol. He’s not in the private sector anymore, he’s in the deep end of the swamp. And they’re fighting him.

Trumpies when a Trump hire happens:

"The best people! He's amazing! Trump is draining the swamp!"
When he leaves the Trump team and speaks out about how terrible it was:
"Well, he was Deep State Swamp all along!"
How stupid does that make your orange savior if he keeps hiring people who are actually part of the Deep State Swamp? You claimed the same thing about Mattis.
Also, I think Deep State Swamp would be a great name for a band.

It’s simple, I don’t watch the cable channels because they convinced me 4 years ago that they’re a propaganda arm of the democrat party.
As far as The NY Times story, I don’t rely on any story coming from a “news” source that exists only to harm the president. They’ve been caught lying enough to convince me that they have no credibility. The fact that they’re CLAIMING trump said some things in a manuscript that was leaked out of the NSC, that no one has read, that’s being published by the same book company that released Comeys failed book, tells me all I need to hear. Combine this with the notorious bad guy who’s cashing in for $3 Million for his “book”, who got fired for circumventing the Presidents foreign policy and you have basically the same tactics Comey used being deployed once again. I’m sure you have every reason to buy into the hype (that’s how book sales are tested when you only have a manuscript by the way). This is nothing more than a hit piece that’s being leveraged by the left to muddy the Senate hearings.

I dunno. I don't think he would have wanted to mostly because Bolton seems compelled to always be the star of the show. My best guess is that Bolton would have gone kind of Hannibal Lector on them - taunting and teasing and proffering just enough to get the Dems slavering on his trail...and then turned to stone and found some way to very publicly shut it down. I don't think he was even above taking a short jaunt in jail for contempt.
Bolton seems like the sort of guy who wanted to be here. In this moment. Dangling key, damaging evidence that would do as much damage as possible to the man who humiliated and fired him at very instant it would do the most damage...and not coincidentally, get John Bolton himself center stage with all the eyes and cameras of the world rolling. It would seem to fuel his monumental sense of self-importance.
And like the author speculates, Bolton is also strategic and wouldn't do this unless he first had stone 4x4 proof to back up his accusations. You play a game of he-said with Trump and you'll always lose because he has Fox News spinning for him 24/7. So he's got a bunch of cards he hasn't played yet.
I doubt it makes much difference in the outcome of the trial - that was predetermined a long time back - but Bolton is certainly going to do max damage to public sentiment in the process.
What effect will it have? No idea. Probably little to none, at this point, but it's certainly going to give the GOP Senators who know they're forced to clear Trump irregardless massive indigestion because they know they're well and truly all-in with Trump now because of this impeachment fiasco.

I think if he had to testify under oath, probably.
Like I said above, though, I don't think he would have wanted to give all that up in the House.
I think he wanted to be the star witness of the real trial in the Senate. Top billing, you know?
Bolton is gonna Bolton. Dude had a monster ego, always has.

exacts when it comes down to it. You can tear him down all you want on his policy stances, but he's no dummy, and I'm sure being publicly insulted by a mental midget sticks in his craw. Plus, he is an old guard Republican, having served in the Reagan, HW, and W admins; trump's dime store, reality tv, televangelist version of conservatism probably makes him want to puke.

Oh yeah. Bolton was never going to take his firing lying down, it speaks volumes to his brains that he waited for exactly this moment to start spilling the beans. Nasty. And calculated. And extremely patient on his part.
It'll leave a mark, but mostly I think it just serves Bolton. Like the author wrote, it kind of bumps him into future administrations because he broke so publicly with this one.

but none of them are worth further conflict between us.
I disagree that future administrations will be any more than just interested in Bolton because he doesn't fit with dems being that if he isn't bombing someone he's not happy. I also don't believe pubs will ever trust the guy after this.
Imo, Bolton is looking forward to a long career of talk shows and book deals. Both will end quickly if Trump is removed from office.

testify.
That would be fascinating.
The thing that would really change some stuff, again, is the secret ballot...and like calling witnesses, you only need four GOP votes to call for that and then Trump is in serious soup.
I am not sold that there aren't GOP Senators out there that aren't biding their time for exactly that vote...and not necessarily the ones we'd suspect, either. History is always a massive judge, institutions always have a way of preserving their power, and there will be veteran Senators either not standing for re-election or not standing again until 2022 or even 2024 and that's an eternity in political terms that have the word "legacy" on the brain.
It only takes four to cross that line...and then Trump is in dire trouble.
Probably a pipe dream. But if it happens I'm not going to be shocked, either.

What, of course, really needs to happen...
Jan 27, 2020, 4:25 PM

Is Bolton's information to push more and more Americans into the realm of "want Trump removed from office".
It's just over 50 percent now, but there needs to be a few more percentage points to make senators take notice for their jobs.
If there were enough senators to turn, I would predict a Nixon-style private meeting to convince Trump to resign.
I still say that's highly unlikely, but hey, they didn't think Nixon was gonna go at first.

The Senators should already be concerned for their jobs.
North Carolina is in play. It's at -1 to the Dems right now. Thom Tillis's seat is on the block there. BOTH seats in Georgia are in play, and Georgia's at -2 to the Dems right now. That could be a cataclysm.
Colorado's not just in play, it's on freaking fire. It's at -18 against Trump right now, and Cory Gardner's up against some massively funded Dems...and Gardner's only at a 37% approval rating. He's pretty much fried; the kicker will be if the RNC sees he's a dead soldier and cuts campaign aid to him. Be intriguing to see what the allocation is.
Arizona? -3 to the Dems. The GOP already lost one seat to Kristen Sinema last time, an openly bisexual woman. Martha McSally got appointed to McCain's vacant seat short-term but she's also the one Sinema beat. She's also tied with Cory Gardner with a 37% approval rating.
It goes on and on, and the more these GOP Senators tie themselves to Trump, the worse it gets.
They need to cut bait. A lot of them have to be looking for some way out.
