SC has the lowest labor union percentage in the country with only 1.6% unionized.
Here is how the vote went:

A total of 2,828 of the approximately 3,000 Boeing workers eligible to vote cast ballots, with 74 percent -- 2,097 votes -- against union representation.

The IAM got beat about as bad as the Coots did this past November. :)

all he did was "bring the beer and listen to a bunch of whiners",
his words not mine. He was supportive of the union for many years
when they were necessary.

to do what I think of as "typical union things." You may be asking, what are "typical union things?" In my mind, they are going on strikes and not letting folks get fired, even if they really need to be.

My father was a welder at Owens-Corning Fiberglass in Aiken.

I remember they went on strike back in the early 70s for a few weeks. I also remember drinking powdered milk for the firs time ever while they were on strike. He told me some great stories of when they were organizing in the early 60s...fights, knifes being pulled on them, etc.

Didn't that union end of eff'ing themselves in Aiken?***

I don't know. He was lucky. He retired in the early 90s.

I'm assuming that was at the height of union power in this country, where they had too much power and a few years later, they started to lose a lot of their power.
