Bo Jackson was a phenomenal talent running the football, averaging 5.4 yards a carry during his brief NFL career while playing for the Raiders part time and playing Major League Baseball full time. But Jackson may be overestimating how well he’d do in today’s game. Jackson said on Deion Sanders’ podcast

And I believe he would still be great playing against modern defenses. But the athletes that are lining up on the other side of the ball these days are too fast and talented to let a RB get the kind of yardage he’s talking about. You’ve got defensive tackles that run faster than the safeties did 20 years ago. They’re in the backfield as soon as the qb says hut. I think he’d be great. But nowhere near his projection. Now the one thing that does lend an ounce of credibility to his statement, would be the new rules that clearly hamper the defense. There’s no wearing down (roughing up) the offense anymore. Maybe he’d get a few more yards because of the offer getting babied. Maybe.
