Any of you guys or gals know much about survival in a blizzard . I'm experiencing my first , and local NYC television is making it sound like today ...Ice Cube ....will not be a good day .

Considering what I've heard of your area and today's events you won't be working. And the coast guard is probably trapped too. And if not...I doubt they'll worry too much about you having a few adult beverages.

Not my first blizzard but I definitely feel your pain.
I have 18" already, expecting another 8-12" when its all said and done. The 25-35 mph winds are whats really killing me right now. Its not even worth it to try to dig out from whats already fallen.
I concur with others, try to just sit back and chill as much as you can. Look at it this way, its like being trapped in a hotel room with Kobe Bryant. You know whats coming, its going to hurt like hell, but there aint s- you cant do about it.

Did the supply/sustanance run on Thursday , man . We also topped up our fuel and our salt supply ....which was crucial .

What I have learned from this thread's replies :
1. Live in south , work in south .
2. If must work up north , bring booze for the downtime.
3 . In a blizzard , get wrecked on alcohol and do not venture outside .

Just chillll.... Everyone needs to chillll.... NYC and NJ get so fn crazy, it's like World War Z outside. Just make sure you have enough food, wine & water and you'll be fine. Upstate, we get 20" a week sometimes for months so we know how to handle it better but in the city, people start losing their minds, mainly because they don't know how to manage the snow or have anywhere to put it. Just be mindful of your surroundings, stay warm, put a jacket on go outside and enjoy it. It's beautiful!

Oh I plan on strolling around when the wind lays down tonight . Ive got my boots ready .
Ya , Im on Staten Island at a shipyard in the Port Richmond area and I can sit up in my wheelhouse and see all the craziness out on the road adjacent to us .
