Many of the ‘experts’ on the tube

Aug 28, 2019, 5:04 PM

Seem to think that the defensive backfield will be one of the Tigers strengths this season. If that is the case, does it mean that the Tigers can stack the box and dare the opponents to run the ball? Are our linebackers that good? I’m sure the new downlinemen who are starting for the first time will be tested early by GT but I can’t believe that the defense will not be very good again this year. We will know tomorrow night. This first game will show us a lot about the upcoming season. This is a great first game.

you will see a lot of that anyway.... BV is a man to man guy

If you are a Pro-I team, or 21 personnel, you can almost bet we are manned up and playing tight...

He will mix it up given down and distance, but in the past, he has dared teams to beat us consistently over the top.

If the DBs are good enough to put up a no fly zone warning, the run game will bog down unless they are fast enough to hit the edge or spread the D-Line out. A good secondary is a good thing to have!!!!

I agree. I think defenses this year will try to force Lawrence into throwing quickly to prevent the long throws to Ross and company. That’s where a good tight end is an absolute necessity. Hope one develops.
I like the Tiger secondary.. I’ll be watching the LBs closely tomorrow night.

To be effective passing the ball, their QB needs to be like Daniel Jones, Eric Dungey, or similar with a quick release. Even that failed when Bama tried it. I'm afraid (for opposing DC's) that CBV has closed that hole. Teams will be forced to have a great ground game, or they will fail.

and teams will need to be able to score when they get in the red zone. 'baemer learned it's one thing to gain yards between the 20s, and another to gain yards when it matters.

Based on the spring game I'd say they're more physical

We'll cover better but have the occasional PI call.

The last two years CBV has had a seasoned D and strong DE’s... veterans that knew the playbook. That’s the only thing that concerns me, how deep can CBV get and disguise coverages etc with such a young group. Get through September and then CBV should be able to click. Fun to see what he does!
