Barring something crazy, we'll finish 3rd

Nov 16, 2016, 12:57 AM

Winner of Ohio State/Michigan will be 2nd. If Washington wins the Pac 12 they finish 4th.

After the championship week?

Nov 16, 2016, 12:59 AM

No, not in some scenario.

If Ohio State beats Michigan, Penn State, assuming it doesn't lose another game, will play in the Big Ten title game.

If that's the case, unless something crazy happens, Ohio State may be dropped out of the top 4. If Penn State wins Big Ten, it'll be ranked ahead of Ohio State.

I don't think so. If OSU wins out, they will stay in the top 4, IMO. Then, the Committee has a tough call as to whether they put the B1G champ (either 11-2 Wisconsin or 11-2 Penn State) in the top 4 as well. If they do, Washington gets left out (assuming Clemson wins out and wins ACCCG)... and the screaming about needing 6 or 8 team playoff gets started up again, probably with justification.

But for now, Go Tigers! Beat the Deacs.

If Washington plays the real USC again in the championship they will lose again. I watched the game and USC
dominated. Washington will not be a factor.

They are done anyways if Louisville wins out. I dont care if they win the Pac 12 or not.

Committe wants OSU in, which is the reason for the posturing them at #2. They'll back door them in at #4 even if they don't win the overrated big10.

That's an important TV market, if the big10 was left out all together you'd see a 6 or 8 team playoff coming real soon.

The committee has to prove that a non conference champ is unequivocally better than a conference champ to slide them in.

In this case can they prove Louisville is unequivocally better than Washington? I don't know how you'd go about that with no common opponents.

I think this is one reason Clemson was not #1 in the first release of the rankings despite a better resume than Bama. A #1 clemson gives UL a better argument if they lost close on the road to #1.

Having two ACC teams in the playoff would not sit well with the media or TV markets, regardless of how good the teams are. Plus those two acc teams pose major threats to Bama.

What I see if it was decided today, fair assessment of top 4 teams:

1 Bama
2 Clemson
3 Ohio State
4 Louisville

You could flip 2/3, it's semantics at that point.

It'll probably end up
1 Bama
2 Clemson
3 Ohio State
4 Washington

Just happens to set up nicely for Bama, as usual for some reason. They make Washington travel to Atlanta, we get in a dogfight in the desert with osu.

We are pretty much right where we were going into Saturday. Only change is if Bama loses we wont be #1 but I doubt they lose to be honest.

Hard to know. It will play itself out and if we win out we'll be ok

Could be but with Michigan's QB out and if OSU wins and Penn St. wins out puts them in Big 10 championship over OSU and Michigan. I think we take the 2 spot if we win out.
