Banana Cabana on IOP closed today

Dec 13, 2018, 11:18 PM

It's been open 27 years. I haven't eaten there in years but probably grabbed a drink with friends there in the last year or two.

That one wasn't even in my dead pool. This is probably the 5th or 6th placed thats closed in the last few months. I can't remember a time that so many restaurants closed at one time down here--something is going on.

Adding to my pool:

-The Granary on Coleman blvd
-Cantina 76 on Coleman blvd (just opened in Aug)
-The Butcher and Boar on Coleman blvd (supposed to open in 'Fall of 2018' as a high end steak place, but nothing has been done but some advertisements on the windows.)
-Mill Street Tavern on Shem Creek

Maybe bubble in reverse?

I'm hearing its not so much the rent but the Mt P local impact fees that are taking the businesses out. Mt P is a victim of its own success.

If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

Otter: Point of parliamentary procedure!
Hoover: Don't screw around, they're serious this time!
Otter: Take it easy, I'm pre-law.
Boon: I thought you were pre-med.
Otter: What's the difference?

but he has been letting people down in food and bev for decades. Unless that place gets hit by a hurricane, I don't see it closing any time soon.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

haven’t been there in years either

Dec 14, 2018, 7:55 AM

Honestly have probably been to front beach IOP 2-3 times in the last 5 yrs.

I know Mrs Fluff and I went for a fruity umbrella drink at coconut joes for an afternoon of touristing

Cantina 76 and Mill Street are good choices.

Haven’t been to Granary in a while.

I hadn’t even heard of the steak place.

Topsail where Finz was is probably a quick open and closed

Truth. It's rare I go to IOP unless there is a band at

Dec 14, 2018, 9:20 AM

The Windjammer. We did got to the Zach Brown band guy's Mexican joint out there last month, and that was pretty good.

If I'm going to a beach, I'll pull up behind Sullivan's on low tide or go to either Morris or Dewees/Bull.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oddly, I've never stepped foot in that place.

Dec 14, 2018, 8:53 AM

Been going to IOP since well before it opened, so I'm not sure why...probably because Windjammer was the default on that block if I was boozing that day.

Granary was owned by a CBWS guy--that's a bummer. Never ate there, but bellied up at the bar once last year.

Granary isn't closed yet

Dec 14, 2018, 9:15 AM

Its just on my dead pool list. There is never anyone there--while Red Drum is killing it daily.
