program and a head coach. Now, I admit I have questioned his play calling at time, but I am fine with his decision to withdraw his name from the UT position.

Spence just called and said he's happy you're fine with his decision. He wasn't going to sleep well otherwise...lol

No surpise: UT wants to win conference championships.

Dec 29, 2007, 7:46 PM

Did anyone REALLY believe that UT would hire Rob Spence? C'mon, they're a top tier program. For the last two years, Clemson's defense has played well enough to win the ACC, but the offense hasn't-- largely due to Spence's poor play calling and inability to adapt. If Spence couldn't consistently put up enough points to beat the better ACC teams (like BC & VT) , then how could UT expect Spence to help them win a conference title in the brutally tough SEC? No way. That was never gonna happen.

Some of you can't read......................

He said he was NOT offered the job and that UT had not made a decision. Please try to pay attention

Thats funny... cuz last I remember it was a deep ball late in our last home game on a blown overage that kept us from the ACC title game...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not one play. There were 3 conference losses, 1 hour each.***

??? why would they even consider him if they wouldn't hire

him? Isn't the just a pointless waste of time?

Spence will look good as long as our non-conference schedule

Dec 29, 2007, 10:23 PM

remains so bad. The minute we start playing Auburn or Alabama in our non-conference schedule, his numbers won't look as good. Has someone looked at his offense in conference versus out of conference?

darn it!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can't believe you people blame Spence for our losses.

Dec 30, 2007, 10:47 AM

Our offense has been hugely improved since he has arrived. Look at the numbers retards. People say how terrible his play calling is because he called a pass in the red zone that got picked. I'm sure these are the same people who were crying about him being too conservative last year. The fact is that play scored us a ton of touchdowns this year. You can't blame a poor descision by the QB on him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're talking about one play. We're talking about seasons.***

Interesting comment

Dec 30, 2007, 12:11 PM

"They were going through a process. They were going to finish their process much later..."

Sounds to me like Spence might have been interested, but UT had a long, drawn-out interview process. And, Spence took a little shot at them in his statement that, to me, came across as "You know I was really interested in the job, but they required 2 drug tests, 3 background checks, 13 references, 27 interviews and a sworn affidavit from my next of kin before offering the job, so I just said 'screw it' and stayed at Clemson."

Note to potential employers everywhere... when you want your candidate, don't screw around... make them an offer they can't refuse.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If UT wanted him, they would have made an irresistible offer***

Clemson is #41 in the nation in total offense.

Dec 30, 2007, 12:51 PM

thats not exactly elite status.
Why did Spence not leave for the VOLS?
Plain & simple,he like Bowden WAS NOT OFFERED the job.
Your choice, either come back to CU,or be unemployeed,
what would U do?
If anyone from Clemson should be drawing attention,it
should be Keonning.
Some are going say...."well,Clemson is 2nd in the ACC
in total offense."
So what, goes to show you how bad the offenses are in
the ACC.....or,how good the defenses are, maybe, maybe
not.
Oh well...just my input.
