Back in the 50s/60s wasn't "bohunk" used for RS?

I remember the term, but not sure of the exact meaning. I bet some of you older fellow Tigers can enlighten me.

I do remember the term used around the Clemson team back in the late 50s and early 60s, but I don't know if it was a general term throughout college football or just one that caught on here because so many Clemson players in those days were from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland.

Traditionally "Bohunk" is a term applied somewhat disparagingly to working class men of eastern European background.

I was a football manager 62-65. That was the term for a redshirt at Clemson. The "bohunk team" was what is called the scout team now.
