Clemson was in a position where no good women candidate would take the job. The good men candidates may listen because of the hardships that they face in the women's basketball coaching profession. So any large school such as ours would be an attractive opportunity for a man since they don't get the same chances as women coaches. But Affirmative action was our goal here....simple as that.
So we can check off the "diversity" card but we've doomed the girls that come through the program to 4 years of mediocrity at best.
In summary, our AD showed a lack of leadership with this hire and destined the team to losing. This coach has a horrible record at UAB. So he thinks she'll be successful in the ACC which is getting even stronger? He is saying he's comfortable with this program in the gutter but at least he can go to his AD conventions and portray the image of diversity in his hires. But in reality he's hurting the success potential of the many girls in the program.
NCST was bold and hired a very successful man yesterday. He had dominated the SoCon for last 15 years and had a history at NCST. Sound like a man we know? Carey Green. Won Big South 12 of last 13 years and made a sweet 16. Was top asst from 87-99 when we were a top 3 program.
