Auburn & Troy

Oct 12, 2016, 11:08 AM

Auburn's Defense is living up to their potential which we saw first hand. They are staying healthy and starting to really roll. Their special teams are outstanding, and they have the best PK in the country. The Offense is actually starting to improve as well. Their 2 losses are against (3)Clemson and (6)Texas A&M.

Troy is 4-1 and beating up on everyone they play. Since we beat them, they have outscored their opponents 123-40. They had an off week last week and are back at it on Saturday at home vs Georgia State.

it just seemed like yesterday 1/2 of us were worried about Clemson and their offense. Both are very good teams!! Clemson was just better.

I would love to see Troy play any one of our bigger named opponents in a Bowl game. I think Troy might be the most ignored and underestimated high quality team in the country.

How are they ignored and underestimated? They're like top 35.

I was looking at top 25 this morning. I'd take Troy over most of #15-#25. I think they're underestimated.

Yeah, they beat Southern Miss

And Southern Miss won at Kentucky. Not that the transitive property works in football, but that's pretty good.

To be fair, Auburn's lost to every good team they've played

It'll be interesting to see how they hold up against Ole Miss and Bama. I think they can beat Ole Miss if they can pass the ball well. Alabama seems like a bad match-up for them, though, because they'll shut Auburn's run game down.

Both would beat SCar ...

... that's not a high bar to clear, just a fact.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Troy is a great example of a small school with legitimate

athletes

primarily due to lower standards of admission than would happen in the ACC.

This sort of thing has been happening in Basketball for quite awhile

and is the prime reason March Madness always includes a mid-major or two

stepping out of the shadows to give a Duke or Florida or UCLA a run for their money.

It's not how big the school is that matters once the whistle blows,

it's the quality of athletes you have on the team.

Kudos to the Trojans for finding their niche and making the most of it...

and also for coming into DV and not going down without a fight.

Our team will benefit from that as the season progresses.
