I remember when Bama came to town in the 70's. All we had then was the lower bowl , which was packed, and attendance was announced as 50,000. Based on that, I'd say attendance today was around 40,000. No way it was 55,000.

The stadium we had in 1967 (Bama) did not hold as many as our lower bowl now. The hill was much wider,
West endzone seats were narrower...we had nor corner seats. The WEZ is continuous now...significantly bigger.

55,000 was pretty accurate.
Top deck total 27,000. 81,500 doesn’t include hill grass numbers.

Just got back and started watching the dvr and esecpn said attendance was 40-45 k. Was really hoping after Dabo prodded everyone it’d have been closer to 65 k.

If I was a recruit, I would be pretty impressed with the crowd and the total production . This especially after considering the fact that it was televised on ESPN .

My guess was between 45,000- 50,000. It was much more than last year.

Yes, there are more seats in the WZ than there were when Bama came to town. There are now seats on parts of the hill that was once grass, so the capacity is about the same. The real difference is that the stands were packed for the Bama game (50,000) but there were plenty of empty seats during the spring game. And the hill, including the seats, were no where near full. So I say 40,000, not 55,000. Still a great crowd.
