We cannot get this fool out of office soon enough

Jun 17, 2020, 4:50 PM

Storytime with Bolton.

Trump, on several occasions, wanted to "give personal favors to dictators he liked" by offering to kill federal criminal investigations in the US into foreign companies based out of China and Turkey.

Trump told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he would "take care" of a criminal investigation into a Turkish company being pursued by federal prosecutors in New York and said "that the Southern District prosecutors were not his people, but were Obama people, a problem that would be fixed when they were replaced by his people."

Trump had a poor command over national security and foreign policy issues, including not knowing that the United Kingdom was a nuclear power and asking if Finland was a part of Russia.

At the 2019 G20 summit in Osaka, Japan, Trump pleaded with Chinese President Xi Jinping to purchase large quantities of American soybeans and wheat to help Trump's 2020 reelection chances.

Trump told Xi that Americans wanted him to be able to serve more than two terms as president.

Trump supported China holding Uighur Muslims in concentration camps: "According to our interpreter, Trump said that Xi should go ahead with building the camps, which Trump thought was exactly the right thing to do," Bolton writes.

In intelligence briefings, "much of the time was spent listening to Trump, rather than Trump listening to the briefers," and Trump lacked the respect of many of his high-level staff members.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo listened in on a call between Trump and South Korea's president before Trump's 2018 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. After the call, Pompeo said he was "having a cardiac arrest" while Bolton said the conversation was like a "near-death experience."

At the summit itself, Bolton said Pompeo passed him a note calling Trump "full of s---."

Trump, who has frequently referred to Kim as "little rocket man," was fixated on having Pompeo give an autographed copy of Elton John's "Rocket Man" to Kim on a diplomatic trip to North Korea.

Trump said it would be "cool" for the United States to invade Venezuela, describing the South American nation as "really part of the United States."

In a 2019 meeting in New Jersey, Bolton said that Trump suggested that journalists should be more jailed more easily and forced to give up their sources, calling reporters "scumbags" and saying they should be "executed."

Trump's decision to release a statement defending Saudia Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in November 2018 after the killing of Jamal Khashoggi was meant to distract from an unflattering story about his daughter Ivanka, a White House advisor, using a private email account.

Shortly after Bolton joined the White House, former Chief of Staff John Kelly told him, "You can't imagine how desperate I am to get out of here." He added: "This is a bad place to work, as you will find out."

Is that you agree Trump is a POS, but hey, you don't like Biden, so you gotta vote Trump? Correct me if I'm straw manning you here.

Trump is crooked and senile. He's a creep like Biden. Not sure if he fills diapers or not. Why do you excuse him over Biden?

And do you really think Biden would be suggesting to totalitarian regimes that they set up concentration camps?

Now you’re really infringing on my conclusion jump patent

Jun 18, 2020, 1:09 AM

Never said I’m voting for Trump. I haven’t decided if I’ll vote for either one of them TBH....abstained in 2016, may do so again. As I said below, if I do vote for one or the other, you’ll never know which, because frankly I’ll be embarrassed of my vote either way.

What I am trying to do is gently explain to you why the large percent of the population who doesn’t see things your way may not be morally deficient so much as in a lose/lose situation.

I don’t think you’re a Biden fan, but I do think your hatred of Trump has tipped the scales in Biden’s (or let’s be honest, whoever else the candidate would have been) favor. They’re both poor choices for such a great country.

Re: Now you’re really infringing on my conclusion jump patent

I said let me know if I was unintentionally straw manning you. The subsequent diatribe wasn't necessary.

Okay, so you don't know who you are voting for. Got it. And I'm not arguing that if someone votes Trump that they're morally deficient. I'm arguing that if they're still a supporter, fan boy, and defender of him, they are. There's a difference.

But we can agree that this is an absolute #### choice for president. Once again.

Jun 18, 2020, 12:57 AM

Doesn’t that tell you something about how bad half the country views the other party and the MSM, that they are willing to look past definite personal flaws to support a candidate and party?

Considering that half the country never supported Trump to begin with, and now considering that his support numbers are now in the toilet, at this point, anyone who still loves the man embraces his despicable nature, ideology, and actions.

Some people want a POS authoritarian because they lack the moral compass to guide them in the right direction.

Jun 18, 2020, 2:25 AM

I always know when you're conceding defeat; it's when you try to throw in personal jabs against the person debating with you. That's your tell that you can't handle the discussion.

But on to the meat of it. Trump's approval ratings have dipped significantly lately. Currently, he's at 40.8. Here's where that's a big problem.

That number is on par with three other presidents in recent history: He's very close to where George H.W. Bush was at this stage in 1992. He's doing better than Carter at this point, who has the worst all time numbers in the 30s, but he's actually doing much worse than Gerald Ford. I think you see where I'm getting at.

While Obama flirted with some lower numbers in mid 2012, Trump's are much worse. And what is really making it bad for him are the disapproval ratings. Those are now at 55.3 percent. Obama never cracked the 50s in 2012.

That's where an election really matters. While voters may not care for someone like Biden, if disapproval for Trump is high, you know where those votes are going.

Finally, polls are showing Trump's numbers with independents are dropping. They were good in 2016 for him, backing him by 4 points over Hillary. Right now, some are showing independents favoring Biden over him by 11 to 16 points.

If Trump were throwing out crazy ideas to see if they stick,

Jun 17, 2020, 6:04 PM

I wouldn't have an issue if he were just throwing out crazy ideas to try a new approach. While uninformed, a new perspective might be refreshing. This assumes he then listens to folks educated on the matter and shifts accordingly.

For example, I didn't think his 'let's buy Greenland' comment was bad. I didn't think it would ever happen, but understood some logic (natural resources, more gateways to the melting arctic, extra land/base/weapon buffer between Russia, etc). Even his response was surprisingly mature:
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1163961884225277954?

This sucking up to dictators, bad twitter habits and trying to punish people not 100% in-line with him is ridiculous.

All of the recent presidents may have had unsavory policy issues, but the overall motivation for each of them was doing stuff that will benefit the country.

Clinton may have been a man ##### but he enacted policies that HE FELT would benefit the American People.

Bush Jr. may have been a complete idiot, but he felt like he had to protect the country by invading Afghanistan.

Obama may have had his issues as well, but he enacted policies that he felt would help the disenfranchised (ACA).

Honestly, about 95% of what I see with Trump is what will benefit Trump only.
