Are we really going after the Nigerian giant?

Oct 30, 2018, 11:08 AM

According to The State in Cootlumbia, the Gamecocks are actively recruiting a Nigerian lineman, 6' 8" and 275 pounds, who plays at Covenant Day School in Matthews, NC. Wisdom Asaboro is supposedly a raw talent that has minimal experience and would be a work in progress for whoever signs him. He visited Columbia for the Tennessee game and supposedly is visiting Death Valley for this weekend's Louisville game. His first offers were from SCar and UNC. Reportedly, he could be a 2019 or 2020 recruit.

Do you think he's worth going after? Or would he be a waste of a scholarship? I haven't heard anything about which way his mamma is leaning yet.

Has anybody else heard anything about this situation?

Big doesn’t mean good. Haven’t heard of him but if you look at a lot of the OL we’re recruiting they’re 6-5+ and we’re able to do this with Trevor being so tall which is a huge advantage. Haven’t heard of this guy yet.

Lack of experience didn't stop

The Tigers from recruiting the young man from Michigan...he only has a couple years under his belt, but a wealth of potential and the work ethic, apparently, to bloom once he's planted on the practice fields under the watchful eyes of this staff.

Trust the staff they know more about the kid than the fans.

If he’s got good feet.... that’s half the game. Little experience also means fewer bad habits

All I found was a basketball tape, I only saw him dunk.

Well 6’8 275 is pretty slim really. My guess is he has a ton of work to do in the weight room in addition to learning how to play football.
