I'm guessing Wisconsin's because they have two close losses to Ohio State and Arizona State and the rest wins. No clue why they would be ranked ahead of us, though. I assume Baylor's 63.4 points per game (1st in nation), 412.2 passing yards per game (2nd in nation), 302.2 rushing yards per game (4th in nation), and 18 points against per game (18th in nation) have a lot to do with their ranking. Georgia has a close loss to us and wins over LSU and South Carolina. Apart from losing to Missouri and missing their best players, they're pretty good.

While the score was a 3 point differential, we were firmly in control of that game. The last UGA score happened because we rushed 3 in prevent defense. We should have won by 10.

We also slowed our offense to a crawl and rushed 6 times to burn off three minutes of clock on the drive before that. Could have been up 17 if we had kept our foot on the gas.

I watched the game again. With 1:41 left on the clock at the end of the forth quarter, we were ahead by 10. Everyone is wanting to make this as UGa barely lost to us. It sucks!!!!

Apparently, there's a large contingent in Vegas that fetishizes yards per play. Clemson's yards-per-play numbers are inferior, but they are made up for good red-zone and third-down numbers. That doesn't fit the standard model these days.

justify some of these rankings. OK, maybe we aren't the 3rd best team in the country, it's certainly something that's debatable since most of the top teams haven't played each other, but what have they seen out of Wisconsin and Florida that makes them think they are better than Clemson? Heck even Ohio State for that matter?
And how is UGA 10? That goes against how Vegas operates. Is UGA a top 10 team when healthy? Almost certainly. Does that matter when setting a line for UGA this weekend? Absolutely not. They have to handicap UGA based on the fact that they are missing 5 of their best offensive players.

Look, this is different than anything writers put out due to money being at hand and much more research going on behind the scenes than the list of people in the AP or coaches. These Vegas people live matchups, money, lines, players, coaches etc. Coaches and writers have other very big jobs 1st then way down the line they are pollsters. nothing to get upset about due to the AP and coaches being what matters and Clemson is #3 in what matters so you have to look at it with big boy glasses on not school A B or C glasses on.
From the beginning of the season Vegas has had USC over Clemson by up to 5 points. The only way they can justify that is due to serious research in the matchup. Maybe the 4-2-5 defense sets up to handle Clemson's great offense better than other teams, hence a few wins over the last few years. I am surprised Clemson's much improved defense hasn't helped with Vegas saying hey maybe they are over the hump now.
Maybe Baylor has a great offense and just enough defense for Vegas to rank them highly. There are a ton of things going on with this poll other than just my team is better than yours. They look at matchups much closer than idiot message board hacks like 99% of college sports boards in the country.

We don't cover with any regularity when we are favored. Maybe this power ranking is based only on who you should place bets on when they are favorites and nothing else. I would agree with that. Would you?
